Existing structures and masonry structures are subjected to heavy loads, and dynamic vibration is well reflected in the generated processes. These vibrations can affect the condition of the works by reducing the comfort of people working there, as they can reach a level that endangers the structural safety. The effect of vibration on the structure primarily manifests as an additional stress in the present section, which contributes to the stress caused by static loads. In addition, there are often effects of climate-related environmental changes, including fatigue and dynamization destruction of the object. Dynamic loads can have devastating effects on buildings of various types of construction, leading to catastrophic destruction. This article presents a modern methodology for non-invasive testing of masonry structures using vibration processes. Here, the feasibility of using modal analysis methods to assess the state of damage to elements and masonry is demonstrated through the process of vibration and vibration measurement. This is a new approach, utilizing innovative research methods supported by information technologies, to examine the suitability of building materials and the conditions for constructing a diagnostic agent.
In 2024, over 100 thousand fires were recorded in Poland, of which almost 30 thousand were fires in residential buildings. Despite the fact that their number is slightly lower than in previous years, there are still 80 residential fires on average each. From the point of view of the structure, the main threat occurring during a fire is its long-term exposure to high temperatures, reaching up to 1000°C in the ceiling zone of the room. This is due to a large number of variables, including temperature, fire duration, temperature gradient, and its dynamics. The condition of the structure itself and the environment of its operation are also important. The article presents a case study of an apartment fire that took place in Warsaw at the beginning of 2025, as a result of which an Ackerman densely ribbed ceiling was damaged. As a result of the fire, three residential units were taken out of use. The residential building was built in the 30s of the twentieth century. The work presents the extent of damage to the ceiling that occurred as a result of the fire, along with an analysis of the possibility of their repair enabling further use of the building.

The ecological awareness of society and, above all, the need to base the country's economy on sustainable development mean that the issue of impact on the natural environment is an issue that is increasingly discussed by concrete technologists. At the same time, it fits into the broadly understood trend of a closed-loop economy, in which the possibility of generating waste, also in construction, is minimized. Numerous studies are being undertaken to reduce the energy consumption of solutions for the construction sector and to reduce the amount of waste generated. The article presents selected results of tests on the mechanical properties of concrete containing waste ceramic aggregate and fly ash from the combustion of sewage sludge. The influence of increased temperatures of 300, 450 and 600°C on the strength properties of concrete was also determined. The conducted research clearly demonstrated the possibility of using recycled aggregate from the crushing of fine ceramics and fly ash from the combustion of sewage sludge in construction concrete.
The paper presents the results of mechanical tests of three types of rocks from stone mines in Poland. Compression tests of cubic samples, three-point bending tests of beams, bending of beams with notch and testing of tensile strength using the quasi-Brazilian method were performed. Based on the tests, the compressive strength, tensile strength, Young's modulus, and Poisson's ratios were determined. The stress intensity factor and critical strain energy release rate in mode I were determined from the bending test of the notched beams. The determined values were used as parameters of computer models which are used to verify the authors’ method of predicting the crack propagation in the Abaqus FEA system.

Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań laboratoryjnych trzech typów skał z kopalni kamienia w Polsce. Wykonano badanie ściskania kostek, badanie trójpunktowego zginania belek, zginania belek z nacięciem i badanie rozciągania przy rozłupywaniu metodą kwazi-Brazylijską. Na podstawie badań uzyskano wytrzymałość na ściskanie, wytrzymałość na rozciąganie, moduł Younga i współczynnik Poissona. Współczynnik intensywności naprężenia i krytyczna energia pękania w modzie I zostały uzyskane z badań zginania belek z nacięciem. Uzyskane wyniki zostały użyte jako parametry do modeli komputerowych, które są używane do weryfikacji autorskiej metody przewidywania propagacji szczeliny w systemie Abaqus.
