Purpose: The aim of the article is to identify the challenges faced by social capital in the group of micro and small enterprises against the background of ongoing globalization processes. Methodology: The research methods used to prepare this study were critical analysis of the literature and own research carried out using the CAWI method on a group of over 360 respondents from micro and small enterprises. The research results described in the article are part of a multi-stage research project on the role of social capital in economic processes in Poland, which has been carried out since 2023. Findings: With the development of globalization, there are new challenges with adaptation to new conditions for the micro and small companies. As it results from the conducted analysis, one of such resources allowing to survive in the world of dynamic globalization processes, that can contribute not only to maintaining the continuity of economic processes, but also to increasing competitiveness is social capital. Research limitations: The conducted research, due to the multithreaded nature of the issues raised, imposes limitations on the level of detail of the presented problems, while at the same time opening up the possibility of deepening them in subsequent stages of the conducted research. Originality: The growing role of social capital in micro and small enterprises and the perception of this resource as a remedy for dealing with the challenges posed by dynamic globalization processes allows for a positive verification of the assumption adopted in the research in question and allows for the recognition of the goal adopted in the introduction to the article as achieved.

This study examines the relationship between migrant stock and economic-political-social globalization index values. The study uses annual data from the United Nations Migration Report, International Migration Statistics, International Migration Report and KOF globalization index for 27 OECD countries for the period 2012-2022. In the study, the sustainable migration relationship and globalization data in OECD countries are analyzed with the panel ARDL method. According to the results of the analysis, a 1% increase in economic globalization in the long run increases the migration burden of countries by 0.60%. Similarly, a 1% increase in political globalization increases the migration burden of countries by 0.06%. A 1% increase in social globalization decreases the migration burden of countries by 0.48%. The findings show that reducing social differences between countries has a decreasing effect on the migration burden of countries. However, as economic and political globalization increases, the migration burden also increases. In an economically and politically globalized world, focusing on increasing social equity and justice to manage the migration burden will contribute to the creation of more balanced and sustainable migration policies.

Environmental quality is a crucial topic both for developed and developing countries. In particular, along with globalization, developing countries strive to catch up with developed countries. However, the globalization process in developing countries may also cause environmental effects. Hence, the current paper aims to analyze the impact of globalization, technological development (TD), and household consumption on the ecological footprint (EF) in Visegrad countries (V4), Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia over the period 1996-2021 through controlling economic growth, renewable energy consumption, and CO2 emissions. In order to achieve this aim, we perform the augment mean group (AMG) estimator that takes into consideration cross-sectional dependence (CSD). The empirical findings reveal that globalization, renewable energy consumption, and CO2 emissions significantly positively affect EF. However, economic growth (EG) has an insignificantly positive, and TD and household consumption have insignificantly negative impacts on EF in the whole panel. In addition, the country-specific results provide mixed results. For example, EG has a significantly positive effect on EF in Slovakia and Hungary and an insignificantly positive effect on EF in Poland and Czechia. Globalization significantly positively influences EF in Czechia and Slovakia and insignificantly positively affects EF in Poland and Hungary. Technological development (TD) has significantly negative effects on EF in Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia and positive effects in Hungary. Household consumption has a negative significant effect on EF in Hungary, an insignificant negative effect in Slovakia, and a positive insignificant effect in Poland and Czechia. Moreover, renewable energy consumption positively affects EF in Czechia and Hungary and has insignificantly positive effects in Poland and Slovakia. Finally, CO2 emission has a significantly positive influence on EF in Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia and an insignificantly positive influence in Hungary. Consequently, empirical findings can help policymakers develop new policies for combating environmental degradation by considering the role of globalization, technological improvement, and CO2 emissions.

W związku z tym ustalenia empiryczne mogą pomóc decydentom w opracowaniu nowych polityk zwalczania degradacji środowiska poprzez uwzględnienieroli globalizacji, udoskonalenia technologicznego i emisji CO2.

On November 14, 2024, the Serbian government removed Belgrade's General Staff and Ministry of Defense buildings from the immovable cultural heritage monuments register, disregarding strong opposition from experts and the public. Even the Heritage Alert issued by the International ICOMOS was ignored. This decision represents one of the most drastic actions among various (un)legal strategies that deliberately lead to demolishing or neglecting 20th-century architectural heritage and has sparked research into the implications of a trend observed since the turbulent 1990s. The findings reveal that, despite signing (or re-signing) international documents and agreements, the new Serbian state has been unprepared to establish a system for properly recognising, preserving, and managing its built heritage. By analysing numerous examples, the research uncovers various typical preconditions and decisions that facilitate the inadequate treatment of historic buildings and urban areas. Heritage has been sacrificed for profit, breaching legal frameworks and the principles and concepts of cultural heritage, along with its societal significance. Violating cultural property law risks completely undermining the cultural heritage protection system, potentially resulting in the loss of significant national heritage, highlighting this urgent issue. Many doctrinal texts, including the Faro Convention, which marks its 20th anniversary in 2025, show us the path but cannot save monuments, especially in less wealthy countries, even if there are well-organised institutions and trained professionals. Belgrade's heritage faces not an exclusive issue but a widespread one: experts are overshadowed by government and political agendas.

14 listopada 2024 r. rząd serbski usunął budynki Sztabu Generalnego i Ministerstwa Obrony w Belgradzie z rejestru zabytków dziedzictwa kulturowego, ignorując silny sprzeciw ekspertów i opinii publicznej.

The aim of this article was to determine the role of transnational corporations in shaping the global economy and to determine the level of their internationalization. In the analyzed case, the statistical method was used as the research method. The data obtained from UNCTAD formed the basis for determining the degree of enterprise involvement abroad using the Transnationality Index. TNI allows for the determination of the degree of internationalization of an enterprise.[...] Taking into account contemporary challenges and the increasing globalization of business processes, it is reasonable to expand the existing internationalization index with variables that significantly influence the shape and level of enterprise internationalization.

W konsekwencji coraz więcej firm, szczególnie działa'ących w e-commerce, zaczyna dostrzegać konieczność skracania i relokacji swoich łańcuchów dostaw.

Cooperation is a key element in building business relationships, particularly when these relationships are complex and implemented on an international scale. The process of globalisation has facilitated the creation of complex networks and the expansion into new markets. However, globalisation has also introduced vulnerabilities due to global crises that disrupt supply chains. In this context, this paper examines the role of global supply chain complexity, specifically focusing on the number of global partners and its impact on the performance outcomes of individual supply chain actors. A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was employed to test the significance of differences between the studied groups in the independent sample. This approach allows for the examination of how variations in the number of global partners influence multiple performance indicators within the supply chain context. The analysis revealed that a greater number of global partners positively affects several key performance outcomes for companies. Specifically, improvements were observed in lead time, overall supply chain efficiency, inventory and warehouse management, company revenue, and market share. These findings highlight the continued benefits of globalisation despite concerns about its associated risks. This study contributes to the ongoing debate about the advantages and risks of global supply chain complexity. It provides empirical evidence that, while globalisation introduces risks such as instability and reduced resilience, the benefits associated with a greater number of global partners remain significant. This research enhances the understanding of how global connectivity impacts supply chain performance and strategic decision-making for international businesses. The findings suggest that businesses should carefully assess the balance between expanding global networks and managing potential disruptions. Firms can capitalise on the advantages of global partnerships by enhancing key performance outcomes while simultaneously developing strategies to mitigate risks associated with instability. Furthermore, discussions surrounding the regionalisation and shortening of supply chains should consider how strategic global partnerships can complement efforts to build more resilient supply chains.

Pakistan, as a developing country, faces an energy crisis that encourages the use of traditional energy sources at both the household and industrial levels. Pakistan aims to achieve the SDG target (2030) as per the UN SDG target. This study aims to examine the impact of energy poverty, poverty, income inequality, energy consumption, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, economic growth, institutional quality, and energy prices on environmental degradation in Pakistan, and verify the validity of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis and the pollution haven hypothesis. A dynamic ARDL simulation model is used to predict the impact of independent (Positive and negative shocks) variables on the dependent variable through graphs. The findings of the dynamic ARDL simulation model reveal that energy poverty, globalisation, poverty, economic growth, FDI inflows, and income inequality in Pakistan increase environmental degradation, while the consumption of renewable energy and institutional quality help to reduce environmental degradation. Furthermore, the EKC and pollution-haven hypotheses are valid in Pakistan. This study supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7, advocating affordable clean energy policies to combat energy poverty and promote sustainability in Pakistan, as well as SDG 13, emphasising climate action to ensure both environmental protection and continued economic investment. Considering the SDG targets (2030), policy recommendations are proposed for Pakistan to achieve sustainable development.

This article focuses on issues of designing supply chains in the context of the spatial scope of operation, and dilemmas related to the choice between global and local activities. The research nich e of this article is the phenomenon of glocalization. The thesis statement that the authors attempted to confirm in the article is the assumption that the design and management of modern, resilient and adaptive supply chains requires combining a global approach, integrated at the international or global level, with an approach focused on the needs of local markets. The considerations are set in the pharmaceutical industry. The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, identifying the challenges and directions of development of supply chain management and presenting the essence and role of glocalization, and secondly, defining the key factors for configuring supply chains in the pharmaceutical industry, especially in the context of glocalization. A qualitative research approach was used to solve the research problem, referring to the relevant literature in the field of supply chain management and the functioning of the pharmaceutical industry in Poland. The main conclusion concerns the statement that the design and management of modern, resilient and adaptive supply chains requires combining a global approach, integrated at the international or global level, with an approach focused on the needs of local markets. Glocalization in the pharmaceutical industry emphasizes that success on the global market requires the ability to flexibly and effectively respond to diverse and changing local contexts.

Do rozwiązania problemu badawczego zastosowano jakościowe podejście badawcze, odwołując się do odpowiedniej literatury z zakresu zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw i funkcjonowania przemysłu farmaceutycznego w Polsce.

Development in the rural environment is a key pillar motivating international organizations' functions and operations. The development in this area falls under the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development of the UN. Rural development and factors such as culture might be utilized to achieve such agenda and improve populations living in conditions. The current study was literature systemic reviewing the evolution path and the impact mechanism on the issue of rural human settlement. Results in the current study showed that natural ecosystems, socioeconomic systems, facilities, and service systems all follow one of seven general evolution paths. Terrain and ecology, climate change and catastrophe, the agricultural and rural economy, population increase, and other factors all contribute to disruption. Policy, technology, and the habits of individual households inform the development of action plans. Every evolutionary outcome has both fragile and hardy features. The government and individual families took measures to lower vulnerability and increase resilience by concentrating on the actual problem of the rural human settlements system. Further, the study observed that the effects of rural human settlements on rural development occur in a systematic way. These changes, most obviously seen in the form of new and improved rural human settlement projects, have the potential to affect many facets of the human settlement system as a whole, making it cleaner, more practical, more harmonic, and generally more pleasant places to live. These benefits will have a multiplicative impact on the health, wealth, and happiness of rural residents; the efficiency, modernity, and prosperity of rural businesses; and the quality of life in rural areas.

Teren i ekologia, zmiany klimatyczne i katastrofy, gospodarka rolna i wiejska, wzrost liczby ludności i inne czynniki przyczyniające się do zakłóceń.

Globalization processes, resulting in the relocation of enterprises to other countries require companies to maintain consistency in both: elements visible to the customer (such as quality, brand, product etc.) and those invisible (structure, organizational culture, management methods). The subject of the article is that invisible aspect. The author has analyzed two basic strategies used by companies: divergence and convergence, taking into account their possible advantages and disadvantages. Divergence, perceived as focused on diversity, seems to be the more obvious choice nowadays. Pressure from stakeholders, however, forces companies to unify and standardize, which is commonly associated with bad corporate practices. Convergence, if used incompetently, as the examples cited in the article show, leads to cultural clashes and, consequently, threatens the interest of the company. Skillful use of the combination of both approaches, becomes the most important task for managers in international companies. The author, based on his research, has identified five key factors influencing the interpenetration of divergence and convergence and their intensity.

Purpose: The main reason for writing the article is a will to research the current problems of spatial order and cultural heritage in Toruń and its neighbourhood. Design/methodology/approach: There were three methods used for the research -the document examination method, the quantitative-statistical method, and the observational method. The objectives can be considered as achieved. The main subject scope of the paper was applying a very broad and multidisciplinary approach to the topic, considering whether globalisation and European integration, in terms of economic development, have an impact on the condition of the architectural space, especially the spatial order and the cultural heritage in Toruń and its closest vicinity. Findings: The situation of spatial development, town planning and preservation of cultural heritage in Toruń and its surroundings is not in the best condition. The built environment in this area does not experience such a harmonious and aesthetic development as it could. In many cases, one can talk about a decrease in different kinds of its values, for instance, cultural ones, perhaps except the financial values of real estate. Important drawbacks causing this state of affairs are market mechanisms, pressure from investors, and the inefficiency of blocking and securing mechanisms, which is related to the wrong law and weak management. Research limitations/implications: The main problems of spatial order and cultural heritage are very complex and require further research. Practical implications: The paper is connected with practice in the subject field. Social implications: The article’s social implications are an important value of the work. Originality/value: Even though this is not the first voice about spatial chaos in Poland, the situation is fundamentally not improving. The problem has been repeatedly confirmed not only in publications of scientists and specialists but even in government documents. In this study, an attempt was made to draw attention to a special, interdisciplinary aspect of the issue. The value of the paper is putting together many different issues which influence spatial order and cultural heritage. It is addressed to both scientists and monument lovers.

W czasach, kiedy to Internet rządzi światem, a media społecznościowe są głównym komunikatorem, należy je wykorzystywać do zbierania informacji o terrorystach. Artykuł wypełnia lukę badawczą z zakresu badań nad terroryzmem i migracją. W literaturze przedmiotu brakuje publikacji opisujących współzależność, jaka istnieje między terroryzmem a migracją.

The research objective of the article is to identify the links between migration and terrorism. This is an issue related to the field of international security sciences. The main concepts, the migration situation in the European union were described, the way terrorists operate, including the sources of terrorist financing and methods of counter-terrorism were presented. Examples of terrorist attacks in which the perpetrator was a foreigner were analysed. The migration situation in France was described and the number of attacks that have been carried out in the country was presented. The author cited two methods of using migration to gain access to a country targeted by a terrorist attack. The thesis will verify the hypothesis the migration and terrorism are linked and that greater population movements cause an increase in the number of terrorist attacks. The article indicates how terrorist attacks can be countered. It stresses that an extremely important part of the state's fight against terrorism is to instil awareness of the threat and the need to alert authorities to the potential danger in the international community. At a time when the Internet rules the world and social media is the main communicator, it should be used to gather information about terrorists. Two research methods were used: systemic and historical.. the use of the systemic method was decided by the fact that the article presents an analysis of terrors activity, understood as a related set of elements. The use of the historical method was necessary due to the fact of presenting examples of terrorist attacks in France over the last dozen years. Cause and effect relationships can also be indicated in the work. The timeframe of the work covers the period from 2001 to the present day. The analysis of the issue refers to the area of European Union member states. The article fills a research gap in the field of terrorism and migration studies. The literature lacks publications describing the interdependence that exists between terrorism and migration.

Renewable energy policy is one of the remarkable parts of the sustainable development path. However, the political-economic dimension of renewable energy policies is not so much widely discussed. Besides, democracy and globalization are essential factors affecting renewable energy. Hence, this paper examines the relationship between renewable energy consumption, democracy, and globalization in the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) during the period 1995-2021. Economic growth and CO2 emissions are used as control variables in the model. The study employs the panel vector autoregressive (PVAR) estimation technique to quantify the relationship between renewable energy consumption, democracy, and globalization by including economic growth and CO2 emissions. The findings from the PVAR analysis suggest that participatory democracy and globalization positively affect renewable energy consumption, while liberal democracy, economic growth, and CO2 emissions have a negative impact on it. Furthermore, the PVAR Granger causality test outcomes indicate an interactive causal relationship between variables.

Dlatego niniejszy artykuł analizuje związek między zużyciem energii odnawialnej, demokracją i globalizacją w krajach Europy Środkowej i Wschodniej (CEEC) w latach 1995-2021. W badaniu zastosowano technikę szacowania PVAR do ilościowego określenia związku między zużyciem energii odnawialnej, demokracją i globalizacją, uwzględniając wzrost gospodarczy i emisje CO2.

The contemporary world has become increasingly interdependent in terms of economic, social and political development. These various forms of interdependence, usually termed globalization, help disseminate ideas, information, products, and services around the world. Increase in globalization has also increased path-dependence, affecting economic, social, and institutional development and completing some industries, products and technologies to grow in line with the global demand and changing standards. While the role of globalization in economic growth, technology transfer and institutional development is established in literature, the role of globalization in reversing environmental deterioration is not explored yet. The current study looks at how globalization has affected renewable energy use in high, upper middle and lower middle income countries. The empirical results based on a fixed effects model show that countries differ in terms of taking advantage of different types of globalization, i.e., economic, social and political, while transitioning towards renewable energy (RE) projects. Economic globalization has a positive influence on RE usage in the case of high and lower middle income countries, Social globalization in case of high and upper middle income countries. Contrary to the positive impacts of economic and social globalization, political globalization has a negative impact on RE usage in the case of high income countries. In addition to globalization, the effect of government effectiveness, GDP per capita and CO2 vary across the groups of countries.
