The composition of the essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation from flowers of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. has been investigated by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total of 105 different constituents were identified, representing an average of 97.71–99.95% of the total oil composition. The oil obtained from flowers propagated conventionally contained the higher amounts of cis-chrysanthemol, cischrysanthenyl isovalerate, camphor, and virdiflorol, while the higher concentration of bornyl acetate, cis-chrysanthenyl acetate, and 2-(2,4-hexadiynylidene)-1,6-dioxaspiro[4.4] non-3-ene was noted in the oil obtained from flowers propagated in vitro. Significantly higher amounts of essential oil were obtained from flowers of plants derived for in vitro propagation (0.58%) in comparison with conventional cultivation (0.50%).

The essential oil of the herb Nepeta cataria L. var. citriodora was obtained by hydrodistillation in Dean-Stark apparatus and by steam distillation. The chemical composition of the oil was determined by GC-MS. Two different GC oven temperature programs were tested. The main constituents of all the samples studied were the monoterpene alcohols (R)-(+)-β-citronellol and geraniol. The largest amounts of monoterpene aldehydes (geranial and neral) were found in the hydrodistilled oil. α-Amyrin (a precursor of ursolic acid) was also detected in the oil. trans-Rose oxide, α-terpineol, geranic acid, and trace amount of rose-oxide were found in the steam distilled oil only.
UV-Vis and Raman spectroscopy are very useful and power ful techniques to characterize the structure of conjugated polymers in various states. Spectroelectrochemical measurements were performed in a three-electrode cell containing polypyrrole (PPY) films as active layers in contact with NaPF6 aqueus electrolyte. UV-Vis spectroscopy was used to characterize the neutral (undoped) and oxidized (p-doped) states of polypyrrole upon electrochemical p-doping. Raman measurements were done with the exci tation wave-lengths of 514, 633 and 780 nm. It is shown how the vibrational modes of PPY were in fluenced by the applied laser wave length. The neutral form was found to be strongly resonance en hanced with the 514 nm excitation wave length and the corresponding Raman bands dominate the spectra. Spectra obtained using the 633 nm excitation wave -length displayed a strong contribution of the neutral form, but notice able bands due to the radical cation and dication were also visible. The spectrare orded us ing the 780 nm excitation lineare dominated by Raman bands of the radical cation and dication.
Doświadczenia polowe przeprowadzono w Stacji doświadczalnej Akademii Rolniczej w Szczecinie. Zróżnicowany poziom uwilgotnienia gleby wpłynął istotnie na plonowanie szpinaku nowozelandzkiego. Zawartość azotu w roślinach była zależna od części rośliny. Ulistnione wierzchołki pędów powyżej 15 cm, zawierały istotnie więcej suchej masy, azotu ogólnego, białka, azotanów i azotynów niż same liście.

The field experiment was carried out in the Experimental Station of Agricultural University of Szczecin in 2003. Different levels of soil hydratation did not have a significant effect on the yielding of New Zealand spinach. The content of nitrogen compounds in the plants was significantly dependant on the usable parts of spinach plant. It was proved that stems with leaves up to 15 cm in length contained significantly more dry matter, total nitrogen, total protein, nitrates and nitrites than leaf blades alone.
Different electropolymerization counterions induce differences in the performance characteristics of the polypyrrole electrode. The primary counterion polypyrrole electrode, prepared in aqueous solution of sodium hexafluoroaluminate, was compared to the secondary counterion polypyrrole electrode, prepared in a presence of the sodium chloride solution. In general, the EIS and CV characteristics of the two system are similar due to the most marked contribution of the electrolyte to the electrical characteristics of the polymer electrode through ion transfer and ion transport resistances. The impact of electropolymerization counterion on the interfacial resistance was found to be more significant than on the bulk resistance. The effective polymer charge transport diffusion coefficients were found in the range of 10-7-10-9 cm2s-1 and the polymer redox capacitances were found in the range 50-100 Fcm-3.
Ac conductivity - temperature dependencies of Au/polyaniline/Au structures with the electrodeposited thin film polyaniline are presented. The data for the reduced and reversibly oxidized polymer samples of estimated thickness being in 10-1-100 žm range are shown. The charge transport laws are found similar to that observed for the chemically prepared conducting polymer. The observed crossover in the conductivity - temperature dependence coincides with the increase in the electrical capacitance of the polyaniline electrode reported earlier.
The redox capacitances for polyaniline, poly(3-octylthiophene), and polypyrrole electrodes have been compared. They are of the order of 10+2F/cm3. The observed dependence on the polymer nature correlates well with the theoretical charge capacity of the polymers. It evidences the redox origin of the capacitive characteristic of the conducting polymer electrodes. The capacitances were determined by electrochemical spectroscopy measurements.
