Purpose: The article was written within the framework of the research task of the project “Quality and risk of employee experience management under conditions of sustainable development”. Methodology: A self-survey was conducted among working people of Generation Z regarding their experience of inclusion in the workplace. Using the Climate for Inclusion Scale, their perception of inclusion in the area of employment and integration of differences was diagnosed. Their dominant positive modules of experiences were established. Findings: Inclusive workplaces determine employee experience. The majority of respondents perceived their workplaces as inclusive, viewing the climate of inclusion in the areas of employment and integration of differences positively. They rated highest the companies' commitment to hiring a diverse workforce and meeting individual employee needs through flexible benefit programs. Intergroup relations in companies characterized by respect and trust scored the highest. The majority of respondents experienced workplace inclusion positively in all modules, where the sensory module was dominant, followed by the social and emotional ones. Half of those surveyed valued inclusion and diversity in the workplace as the most important. Opportunities included broadening mind by sharing different experiences, increased awareness and understanding of others, greater commitment to work, loyalty, and countering stereotyping. The main threat of inclusion in organizations was seen as promoting people not on the basis of competence, results obtained but belonging to a particular minority group in order to meet certain Inclusion & Diversity metrics. Research limitations: The study was ad hoc and exploratory in nature. Due to the small size of the study group, it is not possible to generalize the results. Practical implications: The research findings may be useful for anyone interested in adopting a new perspective on the management of Generation Z employees, based on experience economics. Social implications: It influences modern human resource management practices in organizations. Originality: It builds awareness of the sensory, emotional, intellectual, behavioral, relational experiences of Generation Z employees regarding inclusion.

In the context of Polish insurance firms, scholarly research has identified a gap in the methodologies for assessing employees’ innovative potential (IP) and the significant role of managerial strategies in shaping it. The study focused on team diversity and its impact on IP, noting that among 43-47 active insurance companies, only 18 had product-focused teams, with 16 participating in the research. The literature suggests a positive link between team diversity – considering age, gender, experience, knowledge, skills, and personality – and IP. The main research question explored how diversity influences employees’ IP levels in insurance companies. The article aims to identify strategies for managing employees’ IP effectively and efficiently, emphasizing the need for a precise definition of IP that includes knowledge, skills, and personality traits conducive to innovation. This approach avoids overly broad definitions that may shift the focus from key innovative traits. The research findings included an assessment of the level of innovative potential in terms of knowledge, skills, and personality traits, as well as an evaluation of the correlation between employee diversity and the achieved level of innovative potential. The article also indicates potential applications and directions for further research.

W kontekście polskich firm ubezpieczeniowych badania naukowe wskazują na lukę w metodologiach oceny potencjału innowacyjnego (PI) pracowników oraz znaczącą rolęstrategii zarządzania w kształtowaniu go. Badanie koncentruje się na różnorodności zespołu i jej wpływie na IP, zauważając, że spośród 43–47 aktywnych firm ubezpieczeniowych tylko 18 ma zespoły skoncentrowane na produktach, z czego 16 uczestniczy w badaniu. Literatura sugeruje pozytywny związek między różnorodnością zespołu – biorąc pod uwagę wiek, płeć, doświadczenie, wiedzę, umiejętności i osobowość – a PI. Celem artykułu jest wskazanie, jak różnorodność wpływa na poziom PI pracowników w firmach ubezpieczeniowych. Podkreślono potrzebę precyzyjnej definicji PI, która obejmuje wiedzę, umiejętności i cechy osobowości sprzyjające innowacjom. Podejście to unika zbyt szerokich definicji, które mogą rozmyć skupienie na kluczowych cechach innowacyjnych. Wyniki badań obejmują ocenę poziomu potencjału innowacyjnego w zakresie wiedzy, umiejętności i cech charakteru oraz ocenę korelacji zróżnicowania pracowników z osiąganym poziomem potencjału innowacyjnego. W artykule wskazano także możliwości aplikacyjne i kierunki dalszych badań.

Purpose: This study aims to determine the areas of influence of the neurodiversity concept on the management of organizations in Poland. Design/methodology/approach: We evaluated the above-mentioned areas on the basis of a qualitative analysis of the content of the expert panel entitled "Neurodiversity in management" which took place during the 15th International Scientific Conference "Knowledge - Economy - Society" CMQ2023 - May 25, 2023 at the Cracow University of Economics. Findings: Having studied the opinions of experts, we found that the concept of neurodiversity may influence the following areas in the management of Polish organizations: talent management, recruitment and selection methods, sensory accessibility, inclusive organizational culture and training policy, support for professional activation and career counseling. Research limitations/implications: The limitation of the conducted research is the number of experts who took part in the discussion. It needs to be emphasized that due to the assumptions of the qualitative study, the selection of experts was guided by the criterion of knowledge of autism issues and the diversity of experiences in cooperation with neurodivergent people. Practical implications: The practical rationale for undertaking research in this area is the five times lower employment rate of neurodiverse people in Poland compared to the average for the European Union. Taking into account the experts opinions about mentioned issues allows for institutional and organizational solutions to be prepared thus to increase the employment of these people. Conducted panel, in which the academic community participated, contributes to raising awareness of neurodiversity and may be the basis for further research. Furthermore, the findings are relevant to managers since they suggest the use of effective strategies that could design solutions tailored to the needs of neurodivergent people and thus increase their employment. Originality/value: This article organizes the existing knowledge about neurodiversity and specifies the areas in the organization's activities that may be particularly influenced by it. Findings from this study may be of interest to various groups, including neurodiverse people, rganizations, state institutions and other researches.

Purpose: In today's interconnected and global landscape, a strategic approach to diversity management and inclusion seems to be essential for an organization’s sustainable success. This study investigates the phenomenon of diversity, inclusion, and intention to quit among employees in Poland’s business services sector. Design/methodology/approach: The research tested a conceptual model of the relationship between perceived diversity practices, quitting intention, and the mediating role of workplace inclusion in the business services sector in Poland. The study illustrated these dynamics using data from 542 respondents. Findings: This study's results illustrate the mediating role of inclusion in the relationship between employees’ perceived diversity practices and their intentions to quit. Research limitations/implications: This research's limitation relates to the model's reliance on self-report measures. The answers could have been biased due to the limited response options on a 5-point Likert scale. The study does not directly consider other sources of influence that could have affected its results and is limited to a specific sector only. Practical implications: This study's insights offer new perspectives for business practitioners and provide empirical evidence of workplace inclusion's mediating role. Findings suggest that companies should develop a climate of inclusion rather than solely focusing on diversity practices and policies. Originality/value: The research fills a gap in the academic literature by examining the mediating role of workplace inclusion. It provides a unique perspective on the relationship between diversity practices and quitting intentions in the business services sector in Poland. The implications of this research offer valuable guidance for business practitioners aiming to foster an environment lowering turnover intentions.

Purpose: The article aims to examine how cities incorporate diversity and inclusion into their policies and marketing practices. Design/methodology/approach: The research was carried out using a case study with an exploratory qualitative approach. The case study was conducted involving two European cities, Barcelona and Wroclaw. The content analysis of official documents and publicised materials was the basis for describing each city's inclusive strategic policies and marketing initiatives. Considerations based on the literature review and case study led to the conclusions about the strategic role of diversity and inclusion context in city marketing and the use of inclusive marketing in cities’ practices. Findings: By supporting diversity and inclusion, inclusive marketing contributes to developing inclusive cities by creating a climate of equal opportunity and stimulating stakeholder engagement. Marketing cities through diversity and inclusion also strengthens internal and external city image. Practical implications: The article's considerations highlight the essential role of diversity and inclusivity in marketing cities. Demonstrating the value, possibilities, and ways to implement inclusive marketing can contribute to its broader and more strategic use in the practice of cities. Originality/value: Despite growing challenges, inclusive marketing in a territorial context has so far been an understudied area. The article launches the scientific discussion on diversity and inclusion in city marketing, forming the basis for further exploration and developing model solutions.

The study took as a purpose to determine the Total Carbon (TC) content in the biomass, the Starch Carbon fraction (SC) and its annual dynamics in the biomass of perennial organs (stem and root) in adult trees of two of walnut tree (Carya illinoinensis). Four adult Western and Wichita tree stem and root samples were carried out monthly for a whole year. The TC was determined with an elemental analyser and the SC has gotten based on the molecular mass of the glucose (0.40 gC/gGlucose). t-Student test was performed between varieties per organ for the comparison of TC and SC through the program SPSS 15.0 with a significance of p ≤ 0.05. The results in Western variety were 160.02 kg TC and 4.90 kg SC to 7.54 kg SC in the stem; 64.58 kg TC and 1.74 kg SC to 3.09 kg SC in the root; in Wichita variety were presented 119.72 kg TC and 4.49 kg SC to 6.83 kg SC in the stem; 45.72 kg TC and 1.35 kg SC to 2.75 kg SC in the root. The root was the organ where the greatest amount of SC was stored in relation to the stem, due this latter constitutes a transport organ. Temperature has a marked inversely proportional influence on the accumulation of SC in both varieties. Global solar radiation and solar radiation proportionally influence the accumulation of SC.

Employees from diverse backgrounds have been claimed to perform better; nevertheless, this link has been studied sparingly in the Egyptian setting. This paper addresses this gap by experimentally analyzing the link between employee performance and gender, educational background, and ethnic background. To investigate this link, a usable model was created, and data was collected from 269 academic staff members at private Egyptian institutions. PLS analysis was used, and the result revealed that educational and ethnic backgrounds have a positive effect on employees’ job performance whereas, the impact of gender background on employee’s job performance was found to be insignificant. Furthermore, the research findings disclose that the education and ethnic background of the employees mediates the relationship between employees’ job performance and gender diversity. Future research is yet to validate these results.

Purpose: The dynamics of changes taking place in the environment, globalization, increasing competition entail many changes concerning the management and operation of the organization. One of the conditions ensuring the proper functioning of the enterprise is the implication of diversity management, the objective of which is to promote equality and diversity in the workplace. This approach ought to be treated as a developed concept of talent management in the organization, with particular emphasis on equal opportunities, counteracting discrimination, employee integration and the moral and ethical dimension of management. This manner of conducting a business is based on universal values that help enterprises to achieve their business objectives. Design/methodology/approach: The research task was carried out on the basis of the subject literature and the results of the survey conducted in the fourth quarter of 2020 among 343 diversified employees. The empirical analysis workshop allowed for the assessment of the impact of actions taken for the benefit of diversity management, as well as the possession of the diversity potential on soft and hard aspects of management. Findings: The conducted analyses indicated that diversity management has a significant impact on holistic business management. This is confirmed by both positive and negative relationships between the characteristics analyzed. Originality/value: Little research does relate to the assessment of operations in terms of diversity management or evaluation of the diversity potential and their impact on the holistic (including soft and hard aspects) management of the enterprise. This creates a re-search gap and implies the possibility of acquiring real knowledge of the impact of diversity management on the functioning (soft and hard aspects) of a modern enterprise.

The paper sheds light on impactful diversity dimensions of upper echelons across German companies and their impact on the appointment of Chief Digitalization/Information Officer during the turbulent years of internet of things and digitalization in the second decade of the twenty-first century. The study consists of a literature review on diversity across senior management of German firms in a digital era characterized by global business technological digital disruption. The paper discusses how the emerging phenomena of diversity across top management affect firm performance during the period of incremental innovation and turbulent digital trasnformation of multinational firms. The novelty of the study is nested in the fact that it provides evidence from top management teams' diversity from the advanced markets, such as Germany, where digitalization is one of the priorities of the German government but also of the German business in order to drive long-term firms’ performance and firms’ sustainability. The motivation behind conducting the research on top management teams' diversity across top German companies in the digital era is the fact that the crucial importance of senior management skills, competencies and knowledge are key factors for firm performance and prosperity. Moreover, in Germany, many of the most successful firms have appointed executive positions in their top management in order to manage the rapid shift towards more digitalized business and higher firm performance in a volatile global business environment. Study results show that top management team diversity positively affects the appointment of Chief Digitalization/Information Officer. Also, the paper results show that firms with incumbent Chief Digital Officers in their top management team tend to be more intact with the digital era than firms that have not appointed any Chief Digitalization Officer.

Artykuł rzuca światło na istotne wymiary różnorodności zespołu najwyższego kierownictwa w niemieckich firmach oraz ich wpływ na powoływanie dyrektora ds. digitalizacji / informacji w burzliwych latach Internetu rzeczy i cyfryzacji w drugiej dekadzie XXI wieku. Badanie składa się z przeglądu literatury w tematyce różnorodności wśród kadry kierowniczej wyższego szczebla niemieckich firm ery cyfrowej, charakteryzującej się globalnymi zakłóceniami technologicznymi i cyfrowymi. W artykule omówiono, w jaki sposób pojawiające się zjawiska różnorodności w obrębie najwyższego kierownictwa wpływają na wyniki firm w okresie innowacji przyrostowych i burzliwej transformacji cyfrowej firm międzynarodowych. Nowością w badaniu jest fakt, że dostarcza ono dowodów pochodzących z różnorodnych zespołów najwyższego kierownictwa z rynków rozwiniętych, takich jak Niemcy, gdzie cyfryzacja jest jednym z priorytetów niemieckiego rządu, ale także niemieckiej gospodarki ukierunkowanej na napędzanie długoterminowych wyników firm i ich trwałości. Motywacją do przeprowadzenia badania dotyczącego różnorodności zespołów zarządzających w czołowych niemieckich firmach w erze cyfrowej jest fakt, że umiejętności, kompetencje oraz wiedza kadry zarządzającej wyższego szczebla są kluczowymi czynnikami wpływającymi na wyniki i bogactwo t firmy. Ponadto w Niemczech wiele firm odnoszących największe sukcesy wyznaczyło stanowiska kierownicze, aby zarządzać szybką zmianą w kierunku bardziej zdigitalizowanej gospodarki i lepszych wyników firm w niestabilnym globalnym środowisku biznesowym. Wyniki badania pokazują, że różnorodność kadry najwyższego kierownictwa pozytywnie wpływa na powołanie dyrektora ds. digitalizacji / informacji. Ponadto, wyniki badania pokazują, że firmy, które mają w swoim zespole dyrektora ds. digitalizacji, wydają się być bardziej odporne na erę cyfrową niż firmy, które nie powołały dyrektora ds. cyfryzacji.

Macroinvertebrates of two ex-manor ponds located in Chroscina, Opole Region (Poland) were studied from 2015 to 2018 to investigate their community composition and diversity and evaluate the heterogeneity of communities on spatial and temporal scale referring to environmental variables and revitalisation work. A total of 32 taxa were recorded (at the family level, except Oligochaeta), 13 of which were Ephemeroptera, Odonata and Trichoptera, recognised as sensitive groups in lentic ecosystems. Macroinvertebrate richness and diversity varied considerably, especially in spring and summer. It was found that habitat heterogeneity influenced benthic invertebrates more than basic water parameters. However, the environmental variables together accounted for only 38 % of the observed variations. Thus, other factors, such as fish predation, may have played a leading role in community shaping. The distinct differences between pond communities, four years after the revitalisation works, resulted more from different habitat features than from the previous sediment removal.

A common business practice for transportation forwarders is to bid for shipping contracts at the transport or freight exchanges. Based on the detailed contract requirements they try to estimate the total expected cost of its execution and accordingly bid with the fixed price in advance for delivering such shipping service at the prescribed specification and schedule. The capability to accurately predict the cost of contract execution is the critical factor deciding about the profitability of offered shipping services as well as the amount of business drawn from freight exchanges. However, given highly volatile nature of the transport services ecosystem, it is difficult to simultaneously account for countless dynamically changing factors like fuel prices, currency exchange rates, temporal and spatial multitude of routing and implied traffic risks, the properties of cargo and shipping vehicles etc., which leads to big cost under- or over-estimation resulting with loss-making contracts or equally painful missed revenue opportunities. In the context of FedCSIS 2022 data mining competition we propose an accurate and robust predictor of the cost of forwarding contracts built upon the detailed contract data using the ensemble of the state-of-the-art gradient boosting-based regression models. Our established feature engineering framework combined with deep parametric optimization of the individual models and multi-faceted diversification techniques guiding hybrid final model ensembles were instrumental to outperform all the competitive predictors and win the FedCSIS 2022 contest.

В статье приведены теоретическое обобщение и новое решение научной задачи, которая заключается в научном обосновании и разработке агротехнологических мероприятий повышения зерновой продуктивности растений ячменя ярового с учетом морфобиологических особенностей сортов, их реакции на предшественники, применение рострегулирующих препаратов и минеральных удобрений. По результатам экспериментальных исследований установлено, что применение агротехнологических приемов при выращивании ячменя ярового способствует улучшению таких биометрических показателей как: количество узловых корней, высота растений, общая и продуктивная кустистость, а, следовательно, и обеспечения оптимальной плотности продуктивного стеблестоя в посеве. Повышение показателей элементов структуры урожая зерна закономерно способствовало увеличению уровня зерновой продуктивности культуры. Так, при сравнении влияния предшественников между собой, было установлено, что урожайность зерна ячменя ярового наивысшей была после гороха, превышая аналогичные показатели, полученные после предшественника подсолнечник на 0,15 т/га. Установлено, что использование в технологическом процессе сорта Степовык, генетически предрасположенного к получению зерна пивоваренного качества, способствует формированию следующих показателей: масса 1000 – 54,0 г, содержания белка – 10,1%, экстрактивность – 75,9%. В результате исследований разработаны новые и усовершенствованы существующие приемы сортовой технологии выращивания ячменя ярового, которые в условиях восточной части Северной Степи способствуют более полной реализации генетического потенциала сортов, увеличивают урожайность, улучшают качество зерна и снижают производственные затраты.

The article presents the results of research that demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed agro-technological measures of growing spring barley in the eastern part of the Northern Steppe of Ukraine. For the first time the regularities of growth, development and formation the grain productivity of plants of different varieties of spring barley and their adaptive indicators under the influence of biotic and abiotic factors are established. The reaction of plants of different varieties of spring barley to predecessors, mineral fertilizers, use of growth regulators in the conditions of the eastern part of the Northern Steppe for grain formation with appropriate grain quality indicators has been established. By investigation the genetic material that would stabilize the grain productivity of spring barley in the area of the eastern part of the Northern Steppe, a variety of spring barley Skhidnyi and the first brewing variety of spring barley Stepovik was bred. Regardless of the fact that the Northern Steppe is not a typical area for growing malting barley, however, the use of the proposed elements of technology contributes to the production of grain of appropriate quality. An additional impact on the quality of grain products is provided by the use of varieties of the appropriate purpose. Thus, by the using the improved growing technology of spring barley variety Stepovyk the protein content decreased to 10,1%, and the extractivity oppositely, increased to 75,9%. It is revealed that the introduction of the proposed elements of the growing technology of spring barley helps to strengthen the immunity of plants to pathogens of major diseases. As a result of research, new and improved existing methods of varietal technology for growing spring barley, which, in the conditions of the eastern part of the Northern Steppe, contribute to a more complete realization of the genetic potential of varieties, increase yields, improve grain quality and reduce production costs.

Academic campuses are associated with vivid spaces, filled with a mix of social activity and interaction, whose users are the academic community – students in particular. Due to the involvement of users themselves, participation of university units, the possibility of interdisciplinary cooperation, contact with real tasks and problems - student’s architectural projects of various areas of the campus are both an interesting didactic and research topic, especially in terms of creating a flexible and multifunctional space, accessibility, sustainable development - in particular, improving the quality of life and diversity, or creating the image of the University. This article describes an example of design cooperation responding to real demand - interior design of the International Cooperation Department of the Silesian University of Technology - the result of the work of design teams of students of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Faculty of Architecture and Interior Design, under the supervision of the authors of the article.

The paper studies the factors affecting the business performance of commercial banks (2008-2018), based on the examination of bank characteristics according to the information on the financial statements of 24 commercial banks and macroeconomic factors. Our findings provide evidence on the significant influence of the factors of diversity on income structure, cost management and capital structure on the business performance of commercial banks. Some implications and future research directions are thereby proposed.

Selected districts of Valencia and the gradual transformation of their image are presented in this article. The formulation of an appropriate strategy of action and the effect of an example that were initiated by the construction of the City of Arts and Sciences have broken through the stagnation in thinking about space. Revitalisation efforts have been initiated in many of the city’s districts, as well as in its suburban zone. The great explosion of ideas and emotions also carried over to enhancing the historical traditions of the city and the holistic, multi-directional approach to the subject matter of renewal, providing the city with economic stimulation. The author’s own analyses presented in the article pertain to: Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences), the new development of the Poblats Maritims coastal district, the Ciutat Fallera district and the Orba district of the town of Alfafar, located in Valencia’s metropolitan area. Various proposals for transforming the spatial structure of these districts point to the possibility of conducting an experimental hybrid policy intended to reconcile economic rescaling, entrepreneurship and cultural regionalism in the planned landscape.

Budowa właściwej strategii działań i efekt przykładu zapoczątkowane przez realizację Miasta Sztuki i Nauki przełamały marazm w myśleniu o przestrzeni. Podjęto prace rewitalizacyjne w wielu dzielnicach miasta i jego strefie podmiejskiej. Wielki wybuch pomysłów i emocji przełożył się również na utrwalenie historycznych tradycji miasta i całościowe wielokierunkowe podejście do problematyki odnowy, co przyniosło miastu ożywienie gospodarcze. Własne analizy przedstawione w artykule dotyczyły kolejno: Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (Miasta Sztuki i Nauki), nowej zabudowy dzielnicy nadmorskiej Poblats Maritims, dzielnicy Ciutat Fallera oraz dzielnicy Orba miasteczka Alfafar położonego w strefie metropolitarnej Walencji. Różnorodne pomysły przekształcenia struktury przestrzennej wymienionych dzielnic wskazują na możliwość prowadzenia eksperymentalnej hybrydowej polityki w celu pogodzenia przeskalowania gospodarczego, przedsiębiorczości i regionalizmu kulturowego w planowanym krajobrazie i przez niego.

This article presents selected districts of Valencia and the gradual transformation of their image. The formulation of an appropriate strategy of action and the effect of an example that were initiated by the construction of the City of Arts and Sciences have broken through the stagnation in thinking about space. Revitalisation efforts have been initiated in many of the city’s districts, as well as in its suburban zone. The great explosion of ideas and emotions also carried over to expanding the historical traditions of the city and the holistic, multi-directional approach to the subject matter of renewal, providing the city with economic stimulation. The author’s own analyses presented in the article pertain to Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences), the new development of the Poblats Marítims coastal district, the Ciutat Fallera district and the Orba district of the town of Alfafar, located in Valencia’s metropolitan area. Various proposals for transforming the spatial structure of these districts point to the possibility of conducting an experimental hybrid policy intended to reconcile economic rescaling, entrepreneurship and cultural regionalism in the planned landscape.

The aim of the article is to draw readers' attention to radical changes that occur in the contemporary life of the developing civilization, which entails the necessity to adapt to these changes. Accommodating to these changes is not always successful, whereas in Poland the process usually takes place with a delay of about 50 years, compared to Western Europe. In the field of architecture and urban planning, it is necessary to pay attention to the distribution of places of residence in relation to the location of workplaces and leisure facilities in rapidly growing metropolises.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi czytelników na diametralne zmiany, jakie następują w naszym współczesnym życiu rozwijającej się cywilizacji, co pociąga za sobą konieczność dostosowania się do nich, a nie zawsze to następuje, w Polsce zwykle z opóźnieniem o około 50 lat w stosunku do Europy Zachodniej. W dziedzinie architektury i urbanistyki dotyczy to przede wszystkim rozmieszczenia miejsc zamieszkania w stosunku do lokalizacji miejsc pracy i odpoczynku w rozrastających się gwałtownie metropoliach.
