In a dynamic world where change is the only constant value, professional development has become a key element of success – not only for individual employees but also for the growth of the entire organization. Traditional training methods and courses are often insufficient, making it essential to explore innovative approaches that can revolutionize the way personnel training is conducted. This type of change in approach to professional development is also needed by firefighters. This article focuses on identifying the key factors that determine firefighters’ professional growth in the context of their sense of security. As a result of the conducted research, it has been proven that an innovative approach to professional development requires focus on personalization, practical experience, the use of technology, mentoring, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Through these methods, employees not only acquire new skills but also become more engaged in their work, which leads to better organizational performance. As regards firefighters, this translates into more effective rescue operations, greater organizational efficiency, and a reduced risk of occupational hazards. Given constant change and emerging challenges in the safety environment, investing in firefighters’ professional development is the key to success in ensuring their security. The research focused on analysing relevant literature, reports and source documents related to firefighters’ sense of safety, as well as identifying and evaluating factors affecting their safety in the context of professional development. Developing portfolio strategies that combine innovation and corporate social responsibility is a complex and time-consuming process that is fundamental to the development and functioning of the entire company. Finding the right strategy to integrate these two areas has a significant impact on the companies’ competitive advantage and stability on the market. The aim of the article is to formulate a methodology for developing portfolio strategies in the context of product development, combining innovation with the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility, along with conducting a BCG matrix simulation for the company’s product offer before and after changes. This also includes the analysis and implementation of CSR principles using the selected research method, in order to determine how the local community perceives the CSR aspect. This process will be illustrated with the example of a case study relating to a plant that plans to enter the analysed market. The company studied here is to be headquartered in a selected city to fill a gap in the local market, where there is no dominant leader in the production of high-quality wooden furniture. The results of the analysis showed that portfolio strategies combining innovation and CSR increase the company’s competitiveness and improve its image. The BCG matrix assessment indicated the need to change some products and invest in areas with high growth potential. The introduction of the Multi-Eco chest of drawers will optimize production, reduce waste production and increase customer interest in the brand.

Purpose: To identify the level of innovation implementation in the context of management of residential development projects in Poland. The main research problem of the submitted paper is the result of taking into account the changes that the residential real estate market will have to face primarily in the context of the introduced EU regulations. Design/methodology/approach: Based on an introduction to the research problem at hand, the paper presents the state of the housing market in Poland, highlighting the existence of a large housing gap and the impact of the war in Ukraine. A desk research method was used, i.e. the study of available secondary sources such as publications, reports and statistical data relating to the housing market. The Author's own survey studies among developers of residential projects involving the construction of multi-storey multifamily buildings were conducted using CATI methodology in November 2022 and August 2020 to determine the level of innovation introduced by this category of developers in Poland and to assess them in terms of their preparedness to introduce innovations, the types of innovations they introduce, their management of innovations and the development of their own innovations. Findings: The conducted study made it possible to determine the level of innovation of Polish development companies implementing multifamily residential construction projects. In addition, the structure of innovating and non-innovating companies was presented by the spatial extent of their activities. Respondents also clearly indicated that the management of innovative housing projects causes additional difficulties even if the company has implemented such projects before, which is why they introduce innovations to their projects gradually and mostly adapt available solutions instead of creating their own innovations. Lack of support from external entities, especially public bodies, was identified as the most significant problem posing a barrier to innovation by developers. Research limitations/implications: The study concludes by pointing out the most pressing need which is to support and prepare developers to implement innovative projects. Moreover, this should meet the requirements of sustainable development, as a continuation of more detailed research in this area, especially due to EU legislation necessitating innovation within housing. Originality/value: The paper describes the progress of innovation within the residential real estate market in Poland, identifying the types of innovation most commonly opted for by developers. Furthermore, it points to the lack of skills and knowledge of tools for assessing the risk of introducing innovations in the real estate market. The most important variable determining the dynamics of innovation implementation in the housing market, as indicated by developers, is the possibility of cooperation and support for this process by external public institutions.

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between the age of the respondents and their perception of the impact of selected organisational factors in terms of adoption of innovation. Design/methodology/approach: In the study a proprietary survey questionnaire was used. Factors were selected for the questionnaire based on literature research, desk research, opinions of panel participants (experts), and pilot studies conducted in IT companies. Findings: The age of the respondents influenced their perception of the influence of multiple factors at different stages of the innovation process in terms of adoption, as well as their assessment of the shape of this influence. Younger people tended to perceive the influence of individual factors more frequently than older people. At the same time, younger people tended to attribute less influence on the adoption of innovations to individual factors than older age groups (there was often a trend of gradual increase in the above-mentioned evaluations with the age of the respondents). Research limitations/implications: The research presented in this article has some limitations. Firstly, it was conducted only in Poland, secondly only in the IT sector, and thirdly, the age of the respondents was considered in the context of their perception of the influence of only selected factors related to internal and external communication and organisational culture on the adoption of innovation. Practical implications: Demonstrate the approach of diverse age groups of IT employees to the adaptation of innovations in the context of the impact that communication and organisational culture have on the different stages of this process. This will be helpful in verifying which factors need to be improved to have a greater impact on respondents' perception of the topic at hand. Social implications: The results of the research show that companies should focus on creating a coherent communication system, familiar to all participants in the organisation, which will be an integral part of the organisational culture. Then there is a chance that the trend presented in the research will change and increasingly younger employees will recognise the significant impact of both communication and the culture on the adoption of innovations. Originality/value: Determine the relationship between the age of the respondents and their perception of the influence of various factors related to communication (both internal and external) and organisational culture on the adoption of innovations.

This research departs from the tendency of a healthy lifestyle. This study aims to analyse organic rice production activities and conservation-based agricultural techniques. A qualitative method has been used in the research. The informants consisted of the chairman of the farmer group, members, and the guardian (wali) of the Nagari. The research was conducted in Jorong (hamlet) Bansa, Nagari (village) Kamang Tangah Anam Suku, Kamang Magek District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The results and discussions show that organic rice farming activities were generally understood as the process of producing organic rice only. However, after conducting field research, it was found that there was an innovation in organic rice farming carried out by the Sawah Bangsa Farmer Group. Organic rice farming is only one of the links in the organic farming system (sustainable agriculture/circular agriculture). If relying on the organic rice production sales alone cannot prosper farmers, organic rice farming innovations can empower and improve farmers’ welfare. The important point of innovation lies in the added value in the form of sales: organic rice, finished compost, two decomposers (compost makers), namely Trichoderma and DD Farm, local bio-agents/microorganisms, namely jakaba (Corallomycetella repens, eternal lucky mushroom), ecoenzymes, plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria, beuforia, and biosaka which are all produced by the Sawah Bangsa Farmer Group. Theoretically, this research has contributed to the fact that organic rice farming has a long chain. Practically, the results of this study contribute to the idea that organic rice farming is not as difficult as people imagine it to be.

The effects of global change on development and the sustainability of the economy are visible in implementing innovations. Appropriate selection of experts, considering various knowledge areas, should use selected tools. The article introduces a research tool for selecting experts for innovation risk assessment. In particular, it aims to present individual measurement scales and their reliability assessment (Cronbach’s alpha). The article presents the factor structure of a potential expert’s competencies measured using a questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed for the appropriate selection of specialists from various industries, including production, mechanics, and management. The questionnaire constitutes a tool applicable for assessing and selecting people involved in the implementation and risk assessment of innovations. It is based on the following four scales (factors): open mind, closed mind, cognitive motivation, and response to uncertainty. The questionnaire’s effectiveness was studied using two research samples, n= 224 and n= 349, comprised of entrepreneurs and individuals professionally related to business and development and implementation of innovations. The interviewees were selected randomly. Factor analysis was used to reduce the test items in the questionnaire. The internal reliability of items was analysed using Cronbach’s alpha. The proposed questionnaire forms a new tool that can be used in selecting experts who deal with the risk assessment of innovations and in the broadly understood process of recruiting staff with appropriate competencies in terms of mindset characteristics. The article presents an analysis related to the conduct of typical research in Management and Quality Sciences, as well as practical principles guiding the use of the questionnaire, which may have wider application in the practice of risk management. The article presents the measurement tool with the answer key, which is a valuable guide for interpreting the results. The questionnaire facilitates the selection of individuals focused on independent and courageous problem-solving and the statement of evaluations. At the same time, an adequate level of caution should be respected, characterising people with risk aversion. Furthermore, creativity and openness are coupled with a considerable ability to develop new solutions and rationally respond to difficult and unpredictable situations.

The aim of the article is to analyse the assumptions of the EU policy on critical raw materials (CRMs). This is a starting point for the effective design of the Polish public policy implemented in this area and the indication of the direction of its development in the short and medium term. In order to achieve the research objectives, the authors used methods appropriate to the social sciences, in particular, the institutional legal method, the comparative method and the rational choice neo-institutionalism. The sources of the analysis are documents and source materials (national and EU), baseline data, as well as participatory, sustained and covert observation resulting from the authors' professional functions and participation in industry initiatives. Furthermore, the authors collected information and data through dialogue with key stakeholders and participants of the Polish CRMs ecosystem. The development of public policy in the field of CRM is an important pillar for the implementation of the strategy for the development of an innovative economy. Poland's participation in strategic EU projects aimed at achieving technological sovereignty requires the adaptation of state policy assumptions.

Udział Polski w realizacji strategicznych projektów unijnych zmierzających do osiągnięcia suwerenności technologicznej wymaga, jednakże dostosowania założeń polityki państwa.

In response to the observation that the majority of our energies are concentrated on the urban landscapes of the world when it comes to housing, it seems urgently necessary to direct the discourse, which has so far been focused on urban areas, to rural areas as well. The Luzi House in Jenaz, Switzerland, designed by Peter Zumthor as a multi-generational house in traditional log construction, can serve as an example of this. It combines environmental compatibility and human needs through techniques based on local tradition, the use of local raw materials and a planning and construction process based on collaborative work. The concept of a multi-generational house also seems to do justice to an understanding of housing that is not only interested in the preservation and regeneration of ecosystems, but also in concepts that utilize the opportunities and potential of demographic change for society, such as the transfer of everyday practices and social skills between young and old. The article aims to illustrate why the Luzi House embodies a connection between past and present, tradition and innovation through its anchoring in the history of the village and the integration of modern sustainability principles, and how Zumthor succeeded not only in staging it as an architectural landmark, but also in making it a symbol of sustainable development and cohesion in rural communities.

Celem autorki artykułu jest omówienie, dlaczego Luzi House stanowi ucieleśnienie związku przeszłości z teraźniejszością, tradycji z innowacją poprzez zakorzenienie w historii wsi i integrację nowoczesnych zasad zrównoważonego rozwoju. Pokazuje ona również, w jaki sposób Zumthorowi udało się nie tylko uczynić go landmarkiem, ale także symbolem zrównoważonego rozwoju i spójności społeczności wiejskich.

The contemporary market for products and services is marked by intense and continually in-creasing competition, ongoing economic and technological shifts, and customers who are steadily more demanding and informed. The growing competition and the awareness of the 21st century customers require to link the new and more aware customer requirements with innovation in the services sector. The best source of information regarding changing demands comes from customer feedback, which guides modifications aimed at enhancing quality. Through their level of satisfaction, the customer imparts information about the extent, nature, and range of innovation required to fulfil their expectations. The article suggests a model util-ising the Servqual method, which helps to indicate sectors within service enterprises that re-quire modification or advancement, as well as the essence and category of said alterations. Suggestions for innovation are linked with the maximum value of the calculated indicator (RAi). The analysis of the data shows that the greatest scope for enhancement is in the E1 enterprise, where RAi in all domains exceeds the value of 30. The second business which requires quick alterations is E6. Two companies (E1 and E3) require innovation in the area related to “responsiveness.”
