This paper aims to analyze the dual impact of rapid workplace digitalization - driven by artificial intelligence, remote work technologies, and constant connectivity - on employees’ mental health, identifying key benefits, emerging psychosocial risks, and the limitations of traditional occupational health and safety (OHS) frameworks in addressing these novel hazards. A narrative review and synthesis of international scientific literature published between 2021 and 2025 was conducted. Sources were selected from peer-reviewed journals and reports indexed in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, focusing on empirical and theoretical studies exploring the effects of digital transformation (AI integration, intensive ICT use, algorithmic management, and remote/hybrid work) on mental health outcomes including technostress, burnout, anxiety, work-life conflict, and isolation. While digitalization enhances flexibility and communication, it simultaneously generates constant connectivity, blurred boundaries, job insecurity, and digital fatigue. Current OHS models often fail to capture these risks. Holistic interventions - updated risk assessments, right-to-disconnect policies, and supportive organizational cultures - are essential to protect mental health without sacrificing productivity gains.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza podwójnego wpływu szybkiej cyfryzacji miejsca pracy - napędzanej przez sztuczną inteligencję, technologie pracy zdalnej i stałą łączność - na zdrowie psychiczne pracowników, zidentyfikowanie kluczowych korzyści, pojawiających się zagrożeń psychospołecznych oraz ograniczeń tradycyjnych ram bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy (BHP) w radzeniu sobie z tymi nowymi zagrożeniami. Przeprowadzono przegląd narracyjny i syntezę międzynarodowej literatury naukowej opublikowanej w latach 2021-2025. Źródła zostały wybrane z recenzowanych czasopism i raportów indeksowanych w PubMed, Scopus i Web of Science, koncentrując się na badaniach empirycznych i teoretycznych dotyczących wpływu transformacji cyfrowej (integracja sztucznej inteligencji, intensywne wykorzystanie technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych, zarządzanie algorytmiczne oraz praca zdalna/hybrydowa) na zdrowie psychiczne, w tym stres technologiczny, wypalenie zawodowe, lęk, konflikt między życiem zawodowym a prywatnym oraz izolację. Chociaż cyfryzacja zwiększa elastyczność i poprawia komunikację, jednocześnie powoduje ciągłą łączność, zacieranie granic, niepewność zatrudnienia i zmęczenie cyfrowe. Obecne modele BHP często nie uwzględniają tych zagrożeń. Holistyczne interwencje - zaktualizowane oceny ryzyka, polityka prawa do odłączenia się od pracy oraz wspierająca kultura organizacyjna - są niezbędne do ochrony zdrowia psychicznego bez poświęcania wzrostu wydajności.
The safety of employees during the implementation of work processes is one of the important conditions for the efficient implementation of production tasks. The situation does not change with the use of automation and robotization. On the contrary, it may be a source of hazards in new areas, requiring specific actions to limit the possibility of accidents occurring or to limit their consequences. These actions should be taken in a manner appropriate to the nature of the non-conformities. The study, based on the analysis of literature and a case study conducted in a production organization, showed the most important factors that may disturb the efficient implementation of production tasks. The study presents the key conditions for the development and operation of Industry 4.0, in accordance with the recommendations of the European Union and guidelines indicated in the scientific literature. The obtained results are addressed to the information of people responsible for the development of I4.0, taking into account “the safety aspects”, in industrial enterprises where the implementation of tasks requires cooperation between humans and machines. Statistical analysis was not included in the study. The author attempts to identify relationships that justify further research conducted to establish the existing correlations regarding supporting organizational development professionals, and in particular helping them identify potential problems in order to provide their organization with an advantage in the global competitive environment.

Quarrying activities, as for their characteristics, imply a deep environmental impact and dust emissions represent one of the most important pollutant factors. The aim of the present study, is to identify, according to a geostatistical approach, a simple procedure to forecast spatial variability of dust emissions in order to evaluate occupational risks connected with airborne dust exposure.
The paper discusses new trends in developing and implementing methods of workplace analysis. It presents a sample method of ergonomic workplace evaluation developed at the Poznan´ University of Technology. The method is a response to the industrial sector’s demand for tools supporting occupational risk assessment. The authors also present opportunities and benefits of applying the method in occupational safety management systems, which have gained increasing popularity in recent years.
The first step to chart hazards in the working environment in Estonia (labour force: 0.65 million) was taken by the National Board of Health Protection in the beginning of 1996. The existing chemical, physical, and biological agents in the working environment were investigated with the help of local health inspectors in all counties. An identification of hazards and workers at risk was carried out. The results of the analysis showed that 16% of Estonian industrial workers are exposed to different hazards: 20,000 persons are exposed to noise, 11,000 are working in the conditions of vibration, 10,000 are affected by unsatisfactory microclimate, 6,000 complain about long-lasting work in a compulsory posture, the overexertion of eyes'is suffered by 5,500 persons, and physical overload by 3,500 workers. In the group of chemical hazards the greatest numbers of workers are exposed to organic dust (6,500) and welding aerosols (5,400), followed by petroleum products (2,700), and oil-shale dust (4,300). The measurements of working conditions showed that an average of 30.3% of the results are above the standards. Proposals for the improvement of the situation in occupational safety and health are presented.
