Over the past few years, the use of very high-voltage underground electrical cables has gradually increased for the transmission of electricity in densely populated areas. This article presents a two-dimensional simulation based on the magnetostatic formulation to assess the magnetic field generated by a 400 kV underground high-voltage cable using the finite element method. An experimental study is conducted to evaluate magnetic pollution according to position and 2D coordinates for a variable load. The novelty lies in conducting this study in two scenarios: underground in the duct and the second case at the tunnel exit or aerial. In general, both the numerical simulation results and experimental findings are compared to demonstrate the efficiency of our model. The comparison of the two results shows a strong resemblance; they are very close with minimal errors, which ensures the validity of the adopted method.

The efficient insulation of electric power cables is assured by cross-linked polyethylene due the good performance and mechanical properties. Nevertheless, the presences of electrical trees in insulator can lead to the partial discharge; aging and breakdown of cable insulation. In order to assess the effect of electrical trees phenomena in cross-linked polyethylene cable. This paper aimed to study the partial discharge process by using finite element method, a several electrical trees with electrical discharge was designed to show the partial discharge process. So an electrostatics parameters measurement system was used to obtain the partial discharge characteristic patterns during treeing. Furthermore, four structures of electrical tree development of stages are considered in this study. These discharge types in the electric cable are in vacuum, insulation, and conductor. The electric field distribution and magnitude is affected by the discharge nature, shape, length, and electric tree origin. Finally, the study shows the parameters influence on the electric treeing phenomenon to improve the modelling approaches and their performance.

The expansion of the electrical network necessitates the construction of new power plants and the extension of overhead and underground power transmission and distribution systems. However, underground power cables, such as XPLE 220 kV, can cause significant electromagnetic pollution, particularly in urban areas. This paper focuses on the evaluation and prediction of such magnetic emissions using analytical, numerical simulation (the finite element analysis), and experimental measurement. The paper aim is to minimize the magnetic emissions through the adjustment of the horizontal and vertical distances (x, y) of cables, serving as a technical solution. Additionally, the study investigated the impact of faults with varying magnitude and frequency, considering different loads and conditions. The simulation results indicate that several factors contribute to the escalation of magnetic pollution. These factors include a close proximity between cables, faults, and high current intensities.... However, as the distance between cables increases both horizontally and vertically, the strength of the magnetic field decreases, leading to a reduction in magnetic pollution. A comparison was carried out to assess the magnetic emissions of the underground cable, revealing a notable resemblance between the measured and calculated values. Ultimately, the validated simulation model serves as a valuable tool for evaluating, predicting, and mitigating electromagnetic pollution under different fault conditions and positions.
Eddy-current separation can be an effective technique for sorting non-ferrous metals from nonmetallic wastes. In this paper, we simulate the magnetic characteristics of rotational eddy current separator rounded by drum of permanents magnets in two dimensions, used to sort a mixture of non ferrous particles of different nature. The induced current and magnetic force of ejection in different kind and size of non-ferrous particles are simulated and computed by using the finite element method with Comsol Multiphysics software. The aim of this work is to show the magnetic performance of separator and induced current density in particles, the influence of the conductivity of each of non-ferrous particles on the eddy current and the repulsion force.
