This paper demonstrates a low-profile, wide-band, two-element, frequency-reconfigurable MIMO antenna that is suitable for diverse wireless applications of 4G and 5G such as WLAN/Bluetooth (2.4–2.5 GHz), WLAN (2.4–2.484 GHz, 5.15– 5.35 GHz, and 5.725–5.825 GHz), WiMAX (3.3–3.69 GHz and 5.25–5.85 GHz), Sub6GHz band proposed for 5G (3.4–3.6 GHz, 3.6-3.8GHz and 4.4–4.99 GHz), INSAT and satellite X-band(6 to 9.6 GHz). Proposed MIMO favour effortless switching between multiple bands ranging from 2.2 to 9.4 GHz without causing any interference. Both antenna elements in a MIMO array are made up of a single module comprised of a slot-loaded patch and a defective structured ground. Two PIN diodes are placed in the preset position of the ground defect to achieve frequencyreconfigurable qualities. The suggested MIMO antenna has a size of 62 ×25 ×1.5 mm3. Previous reconfigurable MIMO designs improved isolation using a meander line resonator, faulty ground structures, or self-isolation approaches. To attain the isolation requirements of modern devices, stub approach is introduced in proposed design. Without use of stub, simulated isolation is 15dB. The addition of a stub improved isolation even more. At six resonances, measured isolation is greater than 18 dB, the computed correlation coefficient is below 0.0065, and diversity gain is over 9.8 dB.

In the frequency range up to 10 kHz transformer’s core has a principal influence on the shape of the frequency response of the winding. The paper presents a modeling method taking into account the core lamination and its conductivity. In the given frequency range there can be found a resonance caused by the presence of others windings, at the moment not being measured. A simple way to take into account the impact of these windings in the lumped parameter model is shown.

The paper presents results of FRA measurements obtained from deformational tests in laboratory on the 800 kVA transformer. Tested unit had various failure modes simulated, such as radial and axial deformations and short-circuits. It allowed to identify characteristic frequencies affected by various failures, which will be used, with results from other units, to generalize identification of failures. Additional results come from similar tests performed on 160 MVA autotransformer. It was found that due to its geometrical size dangerous deformations could stay undetected.

This article presents a vibroacoustic method of diagnosing mechanical condition of the active part of the transformer. The proposed method is based on the analysis of changes in the time-domain normalized values of vibration acceleration which are recorded on the surface of the tank. The subject of this analysis is the unknown mechanical status of unloaded transformer during the first few seconds after power-up (transient state). The method is based on an algorithm for calculating the analytical signal module for the real-value signal, representing recorded vibration acceleration. Presented method has been tested in laboratory and industrial applications. Studies have shown particular suitability of the method, in conjunction with the FRA (Frequency Response Analysis) method, for diagnosing failures of transformer windings.

The diagnostics of power transformers is a very fast developing branch, due to increasing average age of assets and changes in asset management strategies, nowadays companies introduce asset management based on technical condition. One of important methods used for diagnostics of a transformer’s active part is Frequency Response Analysis (FRA). It allows determination of mechanical condition of windings, their displacements, deformations and electric faults, as well as some problems with internal leads and connections, core and bushings. For the aim of windings impedance modeling the RLC models are applied. The idea of lumped parameters models was presented in [6]. The new universal model basing on circuit solution is developed in this paper. Lumped parameters used are calculated with finite element method and Maxwell package. The examples of models created for simple windings were compared to real measurements.

Uzyskane wyniki umożliwiły wyciągnięcie wniosków dotyczących poprawnej interpretacji i analizy krzywych FRA.

Results of deformational tests performed on RTdxP 160 MVA autotransformer are described in the paper. It was based on the infliction of controlled changes in transformer's structure, and changes in measurements of FRA curves (Frequency Response Analysis) were detected. The first issue analyzed in the experiment was change of insulating liquid. It gave clear results - a shift of transformer response along frequency, resulting from permittivity changes of insulating medium. Following tests showed influence of rough deformations of regulation windings, as well as, influence of small deformations in series winding (HV). Part of the HV winding was deformed axially and radially. Also some short-circuits between windings were simulated. On the base of obtained results it was possible to draw conclusions concerning correct interpretation and analysis of FRA results. One of important conclusions is that small changes in winding geometry or local short-circuits can be difficult to detect in case of geometrically large transformers.

The paper presents research on influence of short-circuits in transformer windings on frequency response measured with FRA method (Frequency Response Analysis). Short-circuits have significant influence on the shape of FRA curve in frequencies responsible for magnetic circuit, which allows clear identification of short-circuit presence. In addition in higher frequencies range there are changes dependent on the location and scale of short-circuit, which can help to determine size and location of defect. Experimental studies and computer modeling showed that it is possible to conduct analysis of measurement results in this direction.

The paper presents results of modeling deformations of real transformer’s winding. At first stage the winding was deformed in various ways, and its response was recorded. Then a computer model of ‘healthy’ winding was prepared, with FRA curve comparable to the real object. In the next stage the deformation in winding was modeled, which was compared to measured data. It turned out that by using even a simplified model the curves similar to real ones can be obtained. Hence it is possible to simulate deformations by applying such computer model.

W artykule omówiono wyniki modelowania deformacji uzwojenia transformatora.

The paper describes results of FRA curves measurements during controlled mechanical deformations of windings. The winding has been deformed along its axis, both symmetrically and asymmetrically, and along radius. Measurements has also been taken after breaking regulation winding. The comparison of results allowed to identify basic ranges of frequencies characteristic for changes in curves. Confirmation of these results on other units will lead to developing an algorithm for mechanical condition of windings assessment.
