One of the important parameters characterizing the quality of computer networks is the network's reliability with respect to failures of the communication links and nodes. This paper investigated the reliability of star networks. The star topology is used in centralized computer networks. In centralized computer networks all communication must take place through some central computer. So, as measures of network reliability we assume [2): 1) The expected number of nodes, which can communicate with the central node; 2) The expected number of node pairs which are connected by a path through the central node; 3) The expected number of node pairs communicating; 4) The probability, that all operating nodes can communicate with the central node; 5) The probability of all operating nodes communicating. The numerical results are presented in section 3. The values of reliability measures were counted for one, two, three, four and thirty-hop star networks. The calculations were done as a function of a probability of node or link failure.
