Purpose: The main objective of this article is to identify and evaluate factors influencing the image of speedway riders. Nowadays, these factors are mainly determined through social media, which continues to be an important intermediary between athletes and stakeholders. An additional objective is to attempt to find differences between the image of speedway riders and other athletes. Design/methodology/approach: In order to achieve the intended goal, source research methods and numerical data were used to determine the factors influencing the image of speedway riders. The primary research was conducted on a group of 134 respondents, users of the Awangarda Żużlowa website, between 24 and 31 August 2025. The data was subjected to statistical analysis using statistical measures and an independence index. The subject of the study was to assess the current image of speedway riders and to determine the strength of the factors influencing their image. The study was conducted using the CAWI method and analysed using Excel spreadsheet functions. Findings: The result of the study was to demonstrate the role of image management in sports marketing and to determine the strength of the impact of individual factors on the image of an athlete. Research limitations/implications: The main limitations of the study are the variety of factors that may influence the management of an athlete's image, the high mobility of the environment, and the multi-channel nature of the methods used to reach stakeholders. Practical implications: It is hypothesised that the optimal application of the proposed research method will provide knowledge on the objective assessment of athlete image management policies, mainly through social media. This knowledge will fill a research gap, as previous studies on image have focused on individual, well-known athletes. The findings of the research will contribute to broader implications for image management. Social implications: It is assumed that with the optimal application of the proposed survey method, a tool is gained for the objective evaluation of the communication management policy through social media. The method replaces a qualitative assessment of this management, showing the position among different types of media or competitors. Originality/value: The article is aimed at people involved in managing aspects such as public relations, communication and image management. What is new about this article is that it is the first study on speedway racing in terms of image creation through public relations management and athlete behaviour in the internet space. This, in turn, affects communication management not only at the level of social media, but also in multi-channel marketing.

Purpose: This article investigates the commercialization of communication within organizations, focusing on its drivers, impacts, and ethical considerations. By analyzing cultural and technological influences, the study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how communication, as a measurable asset, shapes organizational interactions and performance. Design/methodology/approach: Specifically, this paper uses a Critical Literature Review (CLR) to investigate previous studies on communication in the disciplines of management, economics and human resource management. In order to gauge what is known about the commercial value of communication, comprehensive review of 30 relevant publications from 2009 to 2022 was conducted. Findings: The study reveals that while communication technologies and tools can be commodified, the intrinsic human value of authentic interaction remains essential for organizational success. Technological advancements, such as social media and ICT tools, have enhanced communication efficiency but also pose challenges like information overload and reduced clarity. Cultural dynamics play a pivotal role, requiring adaptive strategies to navigate the differences between collectivist and individualist societies. Ethical concerns, including equity and transparency, are increasingly significant in communication practices. Practical implications: The findings provide practical guidance for organizational leaders on how to effectively combine commodified communication tools with authentic, human-centered interaction. By prioritizing ethical and culturally aware communication practices, leaders can foster greater employee engagement, improve teamwork, and drive innovation. Social implications: The study highlights the importance of fair access to communication tools and practices, particularly in diverse and multicultural workplaces. By promoting inclusivity and transparency we can foster stronger collaboration and trust, addressing broader social concerns about fairness regarding communication. Originality/value: This study offers different perspective on the relationship between internal qualities of human communication and its growing commercialization in modern industry. It can be useful for communication professionals, leaders, and scholars who want to comprehend the economic and ethical consequences of communication in corporate settings.

Purpose: This study explores the role of relational reflexivity in sustainable leadership within sports management, focusing on the predominant reflexivity traits among sports management students. Design/Methodology/approach: The research examines four key dimensions of relational reflexivity: self-awareness, perspective-taking, communication, and conflict resolution. A sample of 146 sport management students completed a questionnaire assessing these dimensions, with the results analyzed using Friedman ANOVA and post hoc Wilcoxon signedrank tests. Findings: The acquired results revealed that conflict resolution (M = 5.86, SD = 1.20) and communication (M = 5.19, SD = 1.33) were the most prominent aspects, while self-awareness (M = 4.72, SD = 1.49) and perspective-taking (M = 4.73, SD = 1.46) received lower ratings. Post hoc analyses confirmed significant differences among dimensions, with conflict resolution rated significantly higher than self-awareness (p < .001) and perspective-taking (p = .002). These results suggest that students prioritize practical, outward-facing skills over introspective abilities, highlighting a potential gap in leadership education. Originality/value: The study underscores the importance of integrating self-awareness and perspective-taking into leadership training programs to develop well-rounded, ethically responsive leaders. By addressing these gaps, sports management education can better prepare students to navigate the complexities of team dynamics, stakeholder relationships, and sustainable decision-making in sports organizations.

Purpose: The article aims to determine the role of communication and social participation in implementing the concept of smart governance in smart cities. The article considers how modern communication tools and citizen engagement strategies affect the efficiency of urban governance, sustainability and residents' trust in public institutions. Design/methodology/approach: This article is based on a review of secondary sources, including academic literature and reports, and case study analysis of selected cities implementing smart governance principles. The research approach is qualitative and interpretative, focused on identifying good practices, main barriers and success factors Finding: It can be seen that cities that integrate digital communication tools with openness and co-decision policies achieve a higher level of resident engagement and greater managerial efficiency. An important factor of success is not only technology, but also the organizational culture of local governments, the ability to dialogue and include groups at risk of digital exclusion. Social participation strengthens trust in the authorities and contributes to the greater durability of urban projects. Projects that are based on data improve the quality of life. Some challenges were also indicated, including the risk of digital exclusion of certain social groups or a lack of proper communication. Research limitations/implications: The article is based on a limited number of examples and secondary literature. The results are not representative, but allow for drawing conclusions at the exploratory level. Future research could include comparative and quantitative analyses, taking into account the perception of residents and the effectiveness of specific e-participation tools. Practical implications: The results of the study can support data-based management in cities, broad communication and cooperation with residents. The article can be particularly useful for local governments. Social implications: Communication and social participation have the potential to increase social capital, counteract digital exclusion and improve the quality of life of residents. This can contribute to building more just and sustainable urban communities. Originality/value: The article emphasizes the current perspective on the issue of smart governance and smart cities, integrating the theoretical approach with practical observations from selected cities. It is mainly addressed to academic circles and local government administration.

Purpose: The main purpose of the article is to verify the similarity of ratings of groups of social media types. The study was conducted on speedway sport fans in Poland. An additional aim is to find differences in the perception of the variety of factors influencing the attractiveness and quality of social media pages. The reason for the article was also the need to find a relatively new and easy method to study media diversity in order to make decisions about managing communication with content audiences. Design/methodology/approach: The main interview method was used to achieve the intended purpose, based on a survey questionnaire targeted at active social media users of speedway clubs. Based on numerical data collected between 21 and 31 October 2024, a hypothesis was made about the homogeneity of social media use and the factors influencing the quality of communication. The data were statistically analysed using the Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA test. The subject of the study was respondents' assessments of the degree of comparability of fads and the factors characterising them. Only the evaluations of respondents who were active on social media were included in the study. Results: The results of the study provided statistical characteristics to verify the hypothesis of similarity of social media-related characteristics according to the procedure presented. Limitations/conclusions of the study: The main limitations of the study are the variety of factors that can influence communication management in sports organisations, as well as the multi-channel nature of the methods of reaching stakeholders. The paper focuses mainly on social media differences without identifying the strength of these differences. In the future, this approach can be adapted to address communication management issues, but requires more explicit results. Practical implications: the Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA method is a modification of the existing ANOVA/MANOVA method. The in-depth method used in this paper was chosen because in comparative tests the basic condition is a normal distribution for the individual series. The method used allows this condition to be bypassed, and this allows it to be used freely to learn about the assessment of social media homogeneity. It provides sports companies with a tool to recognise their competitive position in terms of marketing communication and the effectiveness of its online tools. Social implications: It is assumed that with the optimal application of the proposed research method, a tool is gained to objectively assess the homogeneity of the media and the factors that characterise it. This allows for a more effective management of communication outside the sports organisation. The method replaces the qualitative assessment of this management by showing the position among different types of media or factors. Originality/value: The article targets different companies active in the online space in multiple social media. The novelty is that the data obtained in the face-to-face survey provides a basis for analysis and answers the question of diversity and quality. The method used for social media is included for the first time. Knowledge of the diversity of groups influences communication management.

Purpose: to present issues related to behind-the-scenes marketing in the context of its relevance to the medical establishment as a social media communication channel. Design/methodology/approach: A literature analysis and critique was applied. A non-systematic literature review was conducted using scientific databases: Google Scholar, Taylor and Francis Online, PubMed and ScienceDirect. The scientific items were supplemented with industry literature and online sources on the issues addressed. Findings: Behind-the-scenes marketing on social media allows for better outreach to patients, building trust and loyalty to the medical facility. An authentic representation of the organisation's activities and values translates to greater service satisfaction. In addition, behind-the-scenes marketing enables better communication with patients and promotion of the quality of medical services, and the diverse content and its forms contribute to the organisation's online visibility. Research limitations/implications: The literature review was based only on selected scientific databases. The literature search used a specific combination of keywords using logical operators, which may have omitted other scientific items from the database. Practical implications: Medical facilities should create compelling and diverse behind-the-scenes content on various social media and share the values and mission of the facility. Such activities attract patients' attention and humanise the brand. Medical staff should be trained to communicate with patients to understand their needs better, which improves satisfaction with medical services and influences loyalty. Social implications: Facilities should use behind-the-scenes marketing to communicate relevant information about health, prevention and available services. In this way, patients will be better informed and can make more informed decisions about their health. In addition, the authenticity presented in behind-the-scenes marketing can help strengthen the perception of healthcare facilities as entities focused on the health and well-being of patients. Originality/value: The coverage of issues treating behind-the-scenes marketing is based exclusively on foreign literature, enriching the previous scientific output concerning marketing in the enterprise and medical industry, signalling the author's contribution to developing the discipline of management and quality sciences. There is not much research in the analysed sources in this area, especially in the Polish literature, which provides excellent opportunities for further exploration of the issues raised. The article primarily addresses researchers and scientists dealing with behind-the-scenes marketing in the medical industry. In addition, the article is valuable for managers of medical institutions dealing with communication with stakeholders, mainly patients.

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between the age of the respondents and their perception of the impact of selected organisational factors in terms of adoption of innovation. Design/methodology/approach: In the study a proprietary survey questionnaire was used. Factors were selected for the questionnaire based on literature research, desk research, opinions of panel participants (experts), and pilot studies conducted in IT companies. Findings: The age of the respondents influenced their perception of the influence of multiple factors at different stages of the innovation process in terms of adoption, as well as their assessment of the shape of this influence. Younger people tended to perceive the influence of individual factors more frequently than older people. At the same time, younger people tended to attribute less influence on the adoption of innovations to individual factors than older age groups (there was often a trend of gradual increase in the above-mentioned evaluations with the age of the respondents). Research limitations/implications: The research presented in this article has some limitations. Firstly, it was conducted only in Poland, secondly only in the IT sector, and thirdly, the age of the respondents was considered in the context of their perception of the influence of only selected factors related to internal and external communication and organisational culture on the adoption of innovation. Practical implications: Demonstrate the approach of diverse age groups of IT employees to the adaptation of innovations in the context of the impact that communication and organisational culture have on the different stages of this process. This will be helpful in verifying which factors need to be improved to have a greater impact on respondents' perception of the topic at hand. Social implications: The results of the research show that companies should focus on creating a coherent communication system, familiar to all participants in the organisation, which will be an integral part of the organisational culture. Then there is a chance that the trend presented in the research will change and increasingly younger employees will recognise the significant impact of both communication and the culture on the adoption of innovations. Originality/value: Determine the relationship between the age of the respondents and their perception of the influence of various factors related to communication (both internal and external) and organisational culture on the adoption of innovations.

Purpose: The aim of the study is to analyze actions supporting effective communication in IT outsourcing and to identify those that are perceived as the most effective. The study focuses on assessing the impact of communication strategies on the quality of cooperation between organizations and IT service providers. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted using a quantitative method based on a survey sent to 723 respondents in 2023. The data was analyzed using multivariate correspondence analysis (MCA) to identify relationships between variables. Findings: The results of the study indicate that the most important factors supporting communication in IT outsourcing are communication standards, the use of technology and building a culture of trust. It was also discovered that the ability to flexibly respond to challenges has a significant impact on the effectiveness of cooperation. Research limitations/implications: The limitation of the study is its reliance on a single method, i.e. a survey, which may affect the subjective nature of the responses. The study was conducted on a sample that may not be fully representative of the various IT outsourcing sectors. Practical implications: The study results provide practical guidance for organizations on how to improve communication with IT service providers by standardizing processes, leveraging technology, and developing a culture of trust. Social implications: The use of activities supporting effective communication can increase trust and commitment in business relationships, which has a positive impact on the social dimension of cooperation. Originality/value: The study contributes to the literature on communication management in IT outsourcing by combining a theoretical perspective with empirical research results. The use of MCA provides a novel approach to the analysis of communication activities in this context.

Social media is used by more and more organizations, including seaports, because digital communication channels are an important tool in creating the brand image and one of the ways to build good relationships with stakeholders. Despite the fact that seaports are an important factor in the economic development of individual countries – which largely affects many groups of potential stakeholders – the issues of analysing marketing communication activities carried out by seaports using social media are not sufficiently recognised. Therefore, the main objective of the article is to analyse the business use of this marketing communication channel by the largest ports in the Baltic Sea region in order to assess the potential impact of this marketing communication channel on stakeholders. In order to achieve the aim of the study, the research used the desk research method and the method of observation via the Internet (a.k.a. web-based ethnographic research, or netnography). The results show, among others, that seaport profiles that are highly active on social media have the highest number of followers for a given profile. This demonstrates that regular and systematic maintenance of one's social media accounts results in increased interest from the audience and can thus influence potential stakeholders. Publishing audience-engaging content on your accounts can raise your organisation's profile, generate more interest in the content on your website, and contribute to building trust and audience bonds with your organisation.

This article presents a novel speech cryptosystem by using chaotic maps and Deoxyribonucleic Acid coding. Initially, the speech signal is divided into four equal blocks. Then the speech samples in each block are submitted to confusion/diffusion via four different chaotic maps. The gained ciphered speech samples and the obtained chaotic sequence from Sine map are encoded via DNA rules. The consequent coded sequences from the previous step are merged via DNA/XNOR to get the coded DNA signal. Ultimately, the resulted signal is decoded to acquire the definitive ciphered signal. The experiments prove the efficiency and robustness of the suggested method.
