Rewitalizacja obszarów pogórniczych w aglomeracji śląskiej jest problemem bardzo trudnym i złożonym. Ma on istotny wpływ na koncepcje zrównoważonego rozwoju miast. Oprócz kluczowych obszarów obejmujących człowieka, środowisko i gospodarkę, rewitalizacja odnosi się również do zarządzania przestrzenią, a poprzez to do gruntownej poprawy warunków funkcjonowania społeczności lokalnych miast. Poczynania związane z przywróceniem wartości użytkowej terenom zdegradowanym powinny być konsekwentnie przeprowadzane, patrząc przede wszystkim z perspektywy mieszkańców tych terenów. Rewitalizacja obszaru pogórniczego oraz jego odpowiednie zagospodarowanie, w przyszłości może przynosić ogromne korzyści dla miasta i jego mieszkańców. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono problemy z jakimi się boryka jedno ze śląskich miast, przy rewitalizacji terenów po byłej kopalni.
Silesian communities have experienced the complexity and difficulty of revitalizing of landscape after mining. This process significantly influences the concepts of balanced city development. It not only covers key activities concerning mankind, environment, and economy, but also relates to space management, causing a thorough improvement in local communities functioning. Actions related to the restoration of utility value to degraded areas should be consistently carried out, primarily from the perspective of the inhabitants of these areas. Revitalization of the post-mining area and its proper development may bring huge benefits to the city and its inhabitants in the future. This article presents the problems faced by one of the Silesian cities with the revitalization of the former mine.
Silesian cities are facing economic changes related, among others, to low-carbon transformation. The PN-ISO 37120 standard, which requires the analysis of a number of indicators that determine the directions of city development in particular areas of its functioning, may become a tool supporting city authorities in those activities. Having the above in mind, the authors of the article attempted to find an answer to the question whether the local administration employees of selected Silesian cities have knowledge of the PN-ISO 37120:2015 standard today, as it is an interesting tool for the implementation of the requirements for modern cities. Therefore, the knowledge of the content of the standard by the local government personnel seems to be necessary in order to decide whether this standard is an appropriate tool for the development of a particular city/municipality or not. The study was a pilot project and it involved two cities located in the Silesian agglomeration.
A city based on the sustainable development priorities, friendly to its residents, combines human activity, technology challenges, and environmental requirements. The implementation of the idea of smart city should be discussed with regard to specific areas of activity. In order to identify the way of perceiving the activity conducted under this concept, a survey was carried out among employees of the City Office in Zabrze. The cognitive, competence and informational scope was verified. It was found that the overwhelming majority of officials (79%) are convinced that smart city principles are being implemented. The survey participants also provided specific examples of smart-city initiatives undertaken in the city, and a significant part of the respondents (64%) assigned their professional tasks to them. Moreover, three out of four surveyed officials in Zabrze declared that they know the tools supporting the smart urban development. The results presented in the article constitute pilot studies aimed at understanding the extent to which the Smart City idea is known by local government administration employees. In addition, these results serve as a tool for the authorities of Zabrze to disseminate knowledge about smart city among employees of the city hall.
In times of innovation, rapid economic development and high competition, each producer tries to improve the condition of his company. Then the quality of services or products is improved, losses are minimized, production processes are optimized and costs associated with running a business are reduced. The Kaizen philosophy can be used to solve any problem and issue related to work in the organization. Its main value is to strive for the continuous company’s development through small ideas, which incrementally cause continuous improvement of the company. The paper presents how the functioning of the Kaizen philosophy in a company affects the initiatives of employees, which directly affect the optimization of processes. The presented research results show how innovative solutions consisting in limiting the use of masking tapes influence the improvement of product assembly process.
Companies should constantly seek the causes and sources of irregularities. For this purpose, known and widely used quality management methods and tools should be used. Thanks to them, organizations will be able to identify key irregularities and then seek solutions for correction and improvement. Achieving high reliability of products, companies are able to fully meet their consumers’ needs. The paper explains the basic concepts related to quality. However, the most important issue is to present an example of solution using the Poka Yoke method, for an electronics company. The company specializes in the production and development of electronic and electromechanical components, for industries of different categories: household appliances, energy, automotive. The presented solution for improvement concerns modernization of workstations.
The literature includes a wide selection and distribution of performance indicators to be used in different areas of the company. The paper highlights the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as those that are the most universal and allow the control of intended targets in different areas of the enterprise. KPIs are financial and non-financial process measures used to assess the degree of achievement with regard to strategic and operational objectives in a company. They are also used to measure the effectiveness of all activities undertaken in an organizational unit. The paper presents the possibility of using KPIs to improve the quality of manufactured products, by analyzing the trend of selected indicators. This analysis gave an impulse to undertake improvement actions in the company consisting in the use of quality management method – in this case 5 WHY leading to the initiation of preventive and corrective actions in the occurrence of defective products.
In this article the current and most important standards focusing on smart city sector and organizations issuing them were presented. The standard-setting family for smart cities consists of four basic standards: ISO 37101, ISO 37120, ISO 37122 and ISO 37123. The paper also presents the indicators on the basis of which a city can apply for a certificate of ISO 37120 standard and presents the possibilities of a register of different cities from all over the world in the Global Cities RegistryTM, developed by WCCD (World Council on City Data). Thanks to the data contained in the database, city authorities can answer the question: How prosperous is my city? and compare with other cities from around the world. As an example of the use of WCCD data, a comparison of 21 European cities in terms of the amount of renewable energy consumption in relation to the size of population living in the city has been presented.
W artykule przedstawiono propozycję metod, służących do oceny dostawców w przedsiębiorstwie i rozwinięto te, które są najczęściej stosowane w firmach. Zwrócono uwagę także na znaczenie dostawcy dla organizacji i nowe podejście do procesu zakupów wynikające z obecnych wymagań rynku.
The article presents a proposal of methods for assessing suppliers in an enterprise and developed those that are most often used in companies. Attention was also paid to the importance of the provider for the organization and a new approach to the purchasing process resulting from the current market requirements.
Today’s world is facing the necessity of reducing air pollution. One of the alternatives is to limit pollution related to road transport by using CNG fuel. The European Union is imposing increasingly strict requirements regarding the cleanness of car fumes, and the Polish government is endeavouring to take actions aimed at reducing the pollution related to car use by planning the development of transport electromobility. In this article, the authors want to draw attention to methane as an alternative to traditional fuels. The article presents the results of a survey conducted among drivers, which regarded their readiness to use CNG-powered cars. The results indicate that while respondents appreciate the ecological value of this fuel, they are also worried about safety, which is contradicted by the analysis of CNG advantages and disadvantages.
Przedsiębiorstwa górnicze oddziaływują na społeczność lokalną, która zamieszkuje tereny, gdzie prowadzona jest eksploatacja węgla kamiennego, dlatego też występują silne relacje pomiędzy kopalniami a samorządami lokalnymi, często oparty na emocjach, a nie na argumentach. Mając to na uwadze, autorzy artykułu postawili sobie za cel zdiagnozowanie jak samorządy lokalne postrzegają przedsiębiorstwa wydobywcze działające na ich terenie i ewentualne zasygnalizowanie problemów występujących na linii samorząd-kopalnia. Narzędziem w przeprowadzonym badaniu była ankieta, która została wypełniona przez respondentów przy wykorzystaniu metody CAWI (wywiad realizowany za pośrednictwem Internetu). Z wyników przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że samorządy stosunkowo dobrze oceniają współpracę z kopalniami i stwierdzają jednoznacznie, że nie są z nimi skonfliktowane. Najgorzej natomiast została oceniona sfera działalności kopalń na rzecz społeczności lokalnych. Oryginalność przeprowadzonej analizy zaprezentowanej w artykule polega na wykorzystaniu do badań autorskiej ankiety, opracowanej na potrzeby działalności Grupy wspólnych inicjatyw społecznych GÓRNICTWO OK, mającej na celu poprawę wizerunku kopalń wśród społeczności.
Mining plants influence local communities inhabiting areas where hard coal is exploited; for this reason, there are strong relationships between coal mines and local governments, which are frequently based on emotions rather than arguments. Bearing this in mind, the authors of the article set themselves the goal to find out how local governments perceive mining plants operating on their territory and, possibly, to signal problems between the government and the mine. The tool used in the research was a survey, which was completed by respondents using the CAWI method (computer-assisted web interviews). The results of the conducted investigations indicate that local governments assess co-operation with mines relatively well and make it clear that they are not in conflict with each other. The worst evaluated area was the activity of mines on behalf of local communities. The original character of the conducted analysis that has been presented in the article lies in the use of the authors’ own survey, developed for the needs of the activity of the Group of Joint Social Initiatives GÓRNICTWO OK, aimed at improving the image of mines among communities.
For each company, the process of selecting and evaluating suppliers of both the components needed for production and the implementation of production process is a very important aspect of their business, as the selection of appropriate contractors has an impact on the quality of final product, which is offered to customers. Dynamically changing situation in the company’s environment causes that success is achieved by those companies which implement new solutions and tools in their relations with suppliers. One such solution may include the PN-EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, which requires the organization to evaluate and select suppliers, taking into account their ability to provide a product compliant with the organization’s requirements. This paper presents a proposal to supplement the procedure of supplier qualification in a selected company. Attention was drawn to the fact that it is necessary for the modern organization to have access to database of qualified suppliers, who at the time of arising demand are able to meet the requirements set for them. It is also important for the enterprise to have at least two qualified suppliers for the same component in its database. Such an approach results from the current market requirements. The paper is based on a case study as a recognized method of analyzing and discussing authentic situations applied in management sciences.
Nowadays, companies are increasingly forced to fight against competition. The number of competitors on the market is constantly growing, and customer’s demands on the products offered by the companies are increasing. The role of customers on the market has changed in recent years. Customers are more active than before, i.e. they started to actively co-create value, so they stopped being passive to the purchase process. Organizations that make appropriate use of the increase in customer activity can count on large benefits for the company. One of the methods to increase competitiveness is continuous introduction of new technologies based on the Internet, which recently resulted in easier cooperation between customers and suppliers, making and settling transactions, coordination of orders in the supply chain thanks to e.g. solution supporting electronic exchange of EDI documents. Therefore, the development of information and communication technologies has significantly influenced the development of organization through its improvement. This paper presents the importance of new technologies for the customer that improve the process of its service in a selected clothing sales network in Poland.
The implementation of a new product in serial production is a very important element in the company’s functioning. Manufacturers of cars and complex subassemblies have been working for years according to the established standards of designing and implementing new products for serial production. A great emphasis is placed here on the formal side. In addition, the supplier must prove that has sufficient resources to achieve these objectives. And this is what customers verify during system, product, process and potential audits. However, despite formal approval of parts from the supplier, as well as confirmation of design and production capabilities, defective parts or components are sometimes assembled in cars and distributed to the market. Why does this happen? The answer can often be found not in the forms, manuals or procedures, but in the way the project teams communicate and cooperate with each other and with other organizations. This is confirmed by the research results presented in this paper, which show that one of the key issues requiring improvement during production implementations is not the knowledge of specialists, problems with the machine park or plant equipment, but increasing the ability of specialists and managers to effectively communicate and cooperate. It shows how important is the problem of risk assessment related to the project team for the project within the quality planning. According to the authors, the new model of project plan should be enriched with the risk assessment related to communication in the project team, as a part of the feasibility assessment of the whole project.
