The interests of a sizeable group of architects in Poland from around the mid-1920s onwards was synonymous with the most progressive activities of the European avant-garde. The local modernist community was centred around the art groups ‘Blok’ and ‘Praesens’. The activities of the Polish avant-garde resulted in the inclusion of its representatives in the CIAM working group, which allowed for the international dissemination of the activities of Polish artists. The activity of a group of Polish modernists was also the reason for the spread of avant-garde architectural ideas in Poland. Parallel to the activity of the avant-garde groups, there was also another group of architects active in interwar Poland, mainly of the younger generation, whose designs made clear reference to regional traditions and forms - without abandoning modern aspirations. Leading representatives of this trend included Bohdan Pniewski, Maciej Nowicki and Piotr Lubiński. The early work of Jan Bogusławski can undoubtedly also be described as moderate modernist regionalism. Drawing also on functionalism, he combined, in an original way, modern avant-garde ideas with a traditional view of the detail of utilitarian forms. This article focuses on the summer and weekend houses in the Warsaw area that were built according to his designs between 1933 and 1939, as well as their interiors and individually designed furniture that refers to the traditions of artistic craftsmanship.

The aim of the study was to define and assign to an appropriate group the attributes that the client is looking for and requires when deciding to buy a summer house. This aim was achieved through the use of the KANO model, which helps to define and divide the attributes of a given product into four groups: must-have attributes, one-dimensional attributes, delighters and mistakes. The KANO model was used in a construction company in the process of designing a modern summer house. A questionnaire was carried out, the aim of which was to select a representative group and to investigate what attributes customers who decide to build a summer house are looking for. The result of the survey was the identification of 4 groups of attributes and obtaining information that could support the design of a modern summer house. The results showed that customers are looking for a summer house project, which has, among others attributes, solutions that can enable the house to be used as a year-round house.

Accommodation tourist industry is characterized by high variability. For this category of services not only the location is crucial- that does not change, but also the standard, prices and seasonality of services. In the recent years, leisure centers performing functions only during the summer time have seen the possibility to extend their activities beyond the summer months. The reasons for this are the local investments requiring qualified staff which comes from different parts of the country, Europe and the world while creating dernand for accommodations. To meet the possible demand needs and to adapt to cold season, performing thermo-modernization works is necessary. In order to find the best solution and answer those needs, analysis of the profitability of the investrnents in a chosen holiday resort was carried out. The article presents the results of the analysis based on the payback period, LCC analysis and assessment of the investments risk.

Kazimierski Scenic Park is one of the most attractive regions in the whole voivodeship, and even whole Poland. This is a result of: diversified landscape with an extremely dense network of gorges, almost wild valleys of Vistula and Biała rivers that are a habitat of avifauna rich in species, and a mosaic of different soils that forms a substratum for a huge range of plants. The values of the most precious fragments of this area are also reflected in bigger environment protection systems: ESOCH, CORIE and ECONET-PL. The most developed and the most funded part of the Park are the areas of Kazimierz, Janowiec, Nałęczów and Puławy. Natural, scenic and cultural values of these regions have been discovered by inhabitants of other parts of Poland. This phenomenon is also reflected in the number of new summer houses. Due to the unique value of the protected area, recommendations of the local zoning plans, Protection Plan for Kazimierski Scenic Park and the requirements of the Regional Heritage Preservation Officer must be rigorously observed. It should also be remembered that every tourist activity should take into consideration the preservation of values of natural environment that are the basic values of recreation.
