The Current-Fed Multi-Active Bridge (CF-MAB) converter has the potential to be used in multiterminal bidirectional electric vehicle charging stations, where each port must be controlled independently. However, due to the complexity of the converter’s structure and its control system, analyzing the converter and developing the control system presents a significant challenge. Therefore, this paper focuses on the development and validation of a reduced-order small-signal model for the CF-MAB converter. The resulting model shows an error of less than 1% near the analyzed operating points when compared to simulation results. Consequently, the model is used to analyze the PI controller parameters Kp and Ki to ensure stable converter operation.

W konsekwencji model ten został wykorzystany do analizy parametrów regulatora PI, Kp i Ki w celu zapewnienia stabilnej pracy.

The interconnected and self-driving vehicles (CAVs) are appearing in a world of human travel, where they promise enhanced safety, better efficiency, and a sustainable approach to transportation. But realizing their potential calls for a complete rethinking of today’s infrastructure and CAVs’ place in it. The research needed for that understanding to happen is very much in its early stages. This article serves as a beginning point for a full-scale study of the issue. It looks at the infrastructure changes that will be required to safely integrate CAVs into our lives, changes that already face several very serious obstacles. It also looks at the future societal and governmental changes the CAVs will force upon us. And it considers all these changes in light of what's become an essential landscape for the CAVs: the cybersecurity threat to the millions of lines of code the vehicles rely upon for their safe functioning. At the end, we'll also flag some gaps in what's known so far and what those gaps could mean for a future informed by the knowledge of the past.

The cement industry plays an essential role in the development of transportation and logistics infrastructure, yet it continues to be classified as a major industrial source of global carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. The cement production process emits nearly 8% of the total anthropogenic emissions, positioning it as the second-highest industrial source of CO₂ emissions behind power generation. As sustainable transportation systems increasingly become a global priority, the decarbonization of cement-based infrastructure has emerged as an urgent challenge. The primary goal of the current study is to offer a comprehensive evaluation of key CO₂ mitigation strategies applicable to cement production, including the adoption of alternative fuels, reducing the ratio of clinker through supplementary cementitious materials, energy efficiency optimization, and carbon capture and storage technologies. This assessment offers a structured and multidimensional comparative assessment of these strategies in the cement industry. Using real-world cost and performance data for a standard 1-Mt/yr European cement plant, the analysis quantifies capital expenditure, levelized cost of abatement (€/t CO₂), CO₂ savings (kt CO₂/yr), and payback periods for each technology. The outcomes reveal that while operational improvements (e.g., alternative fuels use, supplementary cementitious materials) offer low-cost, short-payback solutions with moderate emission reductions, deep decarbonization requires carbon capture and electrification technologies, which remain cost-intensive and technically demanding. A marginal abatement cost curve and additional visual tools are developed to assist industry stakeholders in identifying optimal pathways. A sensitivity analysis on carbon price, discount rate, and electricity cost is conducted, and their effects on the levelized cost of abatement and the net economic benefit across the valuated technologies are quantified to examine the influence of policy and financing conditions. Based on these findings, a strategic roadmap is proposed that sequences near, mid, and long-term interventions. This work aims to support informed decision-making by plant managers, researchers, and policymakers striving toward net-zero goals in transport-related cement applications.

Given the high uncertainty of the external business environment, risk assessment is of particular importance for companies operating in capital-intensive and highrisk sectors such as the shipping industry. This paper proposes a novel methodical approach to financial risk assessment that integrates several complementary methods. The approach is grounded in the development of a fully dynamic financial model that enables the calculation of projected financial indicators and the evaluation of risk through scenario analysis and descriptive statistical methods. The approach is examined using a case study of a new building project for a dry bulk vessel. Based on the financial model and key project drivers, a set of scenarios is constructed, and statistical indicators are derived to quantify the financial risks associated with the volatility of freight rates, operational expenditure levels, and investment financing conditions relevant to shipping companies.

Electrically conductive concrete (ECC) is an innovative cementitious composite. The principle of operation, conduction mechanisms, and the influence of conductive additives on mechanical and electrical parameters are discussed. Literature results indicate that the use of suitable conductive admixtures reduces the resistivity of such a concrete from 102-106 Ω·m to even below 10⁻¹ Ω·m (ECC), enabling effective heat generation. Examples of laboratory studies, pilot projects, and real-world implementations are presented, taking into account performance efficiency, durability, and practical applicability under winter conditions. Special attention is given to the implementation potential of ECC in Poland. Key technological, organizational, and economic barriers to ECC deployment are also identified, along with suggested directions for future research. ECC is considered to have strong potential to enhance infrastructure resilience to extreme weather events and to reduce winter maintenance costs.

This article presents the results of our own research on the impact of micromobility infrastructure on tourist preferences in Polish holiday destinations. The aim of the study was to identify the infrastructural elements important for the development of micromobility in resorts in Poland. Using a logistic regression model in a study conducted on a sample of 1000 respondents, six key factors influencing the perception of micromobility were identified. The strongest predictors of positive perception were: availability of bicycle and scooter rentals, infrastructure accompanying cycling paths, and road quality in the holiday destination. The results indicate that for the development of micromobility in tourist destinations, it is necessary to provide comprehensive infrastructure and take local conditions into account. This is particularly important in the context of the inverted mobility pyramid concept, the implementation of which requires understanding tourist preferences and gradually introducing solutions that limit the dominance of car transport in favor of more sustainable forms of movement.

Public investment is one of the important and decisive factors for the economic development process in Vietnam. It involves the government’s investment in public programs, projects, and investment subjects. The medium-term public investment plan for the period of 2021-2025 needs VND 2.87 million billion, focusing on priority sectors that are important and key to the economy, including transport infrastructure. The budget allocated for the transport sector accounts for the highest proportion (42.9%) but the development of modern and synchronized infrastructure has not yet met requirements. Currently, the disbursement work is slow and encounters many obstacles, affecting the effectiveness of capital utilization. According to the report of the Ministry of Transport, the disbursement rate of transport works in the period of 2016-2020 reached 69%. Therefore, this article analyzes the current situation of disbursement in transport infrastructure construction through reports of State management agencies, previous studies, uses SPSS software to quantify the criteria affecting this work. Furthermore, solutions for accelerating the public investment disbursement in transport infrastructure construction are proposed.

The main purpose of the paper is to develop a tool to effectively support the transport infrastructure planning process. The novel method is based on modified ant colony optimization and is used for evaluating new infrastructure sections in the public transport. The section could contain a single route as well as a combination of two or more routes. The authors propose a two-step evaluation. Step one uses a modified ant colony optimization to evaluate a single underground route. As a result, for each route, the effort that artificial ants have to cover the routes is obtained. Such effort is calculated considering the distance, total length, number of inhabitants, and areas with access to the rail network. In step two, the proposed routes are combined to create variants. The evaluation of combining routes use additional parameters like crossing time or travel time in alternative means. The case study located in one of the biggest agglomerations in Poland shows the method’s utility in the evaluation of options for a railway tunnel. The analyses show that all criteria have an influence on the results and that the new, two steps method gives an intriguing effect. The presented methodology contains novel elements and their implementation to specific transport infrastructure elements. The results are contrasted with an algorithm based on multi-criteria analysis, which showed the greater complexity of the proposed approach.

Globally, efficient intercity public transport relies on well-designed and high-quality terminal facilities and services to enhance accessibility, mobility, and safety for passengers and freight. Despite governmental efforts, bus terminals in Nigerian urban areas are becoming hotspots for unregulated activities and traffic chaos. In response, this study investigates users’ satisfaction with Lagos State's intercity bus terminal quality, analysing socio-economic profiles, satisfaction levels with quality of terminal facilities (QoTF) and services (QoTS), and challenges impacting terminal operations. Using a cross-sectional survey, 200 questionnaires were distributed to terminal users, employing a multistage sampling technique. Descriptive (weighted mean analysis) and inferential (multiple linear regression [MLR] analysis) statistics were employed for data analysis. Results indicate that the majority of respondents are male, aged below 40, and permanent terminal users. Satisfaction is noted with 13 out of 24 parameters of QoTF, with top-ranking parameters including parking space, restaurant facilities, and waste disposal facilities. However, dissatisfaction is expressed with 8 out of 14 parameters of QoTS. Least-satisfied QoTS parameters include staff attitudes, passenger safety, and bus service reliability. Top-rated challenges affecting terminal operations are security concerns, sanitation facility deficiencies and insufficient passenger amenities. MLR analysis indicates a significant influence of terminal facilities on overall service satisfaction (F= 2.899, p= 0.000 <0.05). In conclusion, enhancing both terminal facilities and services is crucial for efficient operations in Lagos State's bus terminals. Recommendations include improving security measures, sanitary infrastructure and staff training to address user concerns and enhance satisfaction.

One of the greatest challenges most developing countries are facing is the need to improve the transportation systems in their cities. In achieving this, emphasis has been put on the role of infrastructure development to improve the mobility of residents and reduce the negative externalities, such as traffic congestion, associated with most cities in both developed and developing countries. Hence, this study evaluates the impact traffic volume, in relation to available infrastructure capacity, has on traffic congestion, within the dynamics of a rapidly developing urban environment. Though there appears to be a consistent state of slow-moving traffic on two of the roads studied, traffic congestion is not critical, which suggests that available infrastructure is being appropriately utilized. This study found a statistically significant negative relationship between capacity utilization and traffic congestion levels.

Contemporary cities face many challenges, including climate change, which adversely affects the environment and biodiversity. Efforts are made to maintain existing and design new green areas, which, in addition to ecological benefits, also have a positive impact on the health and well-being of residents. Elements of nature are introduced in cities in various ways, as well as in new, not entirely obvious locations, e.g., as accompanying facilities related to transport. The study of three cases of green area solutions accompanying transport infrastructure facilities in the context of enhancing urban biodiversity and fulfilling social functions is the main subject of this work. The functional and spatial layouts of the areas and their position in relation to the ground level will also be analysed. An additional aim is to present current emerging trends in urban green areas design, characterized by the reuse of abandoned and undeveloped areas, the combination of functions and the integration with architecture and infrastructure facilities. The method of analysing source materials on the discussed examples was used and the site visits were carried out in 2013 (High Line), 2022 (Salesforce Transit Center Park) and 2023 (Platform Park). The analysis has shown that, regardless of the location of the transport infrastructure in relation to the level of the ground, the time of its construction and the way in which it is connected to the surroundings, there are great opportunities to introduce green spaces as an accompanying transport infrastructure which can affect biodiversity and the implementation of social functions in cities.

Główny cel artykułu to studium trzech przypadków terenów zieleni towarzyszących obiektom infrastruktury transportowej w kontekście zwiększenia bioróżnorodności w miastach i realizacji funkcji społecznych. Zastosowano metodę analizy materiałów źródłowych dotyczących każdego z omawianych założeń, a także przeprowadzono wizje lokalne w latach 2013 (High Line), 2022 (Salesforce Transit Centre Park) i 2023 (Platform Park).

Content available Evaluation in the Transport Sector and SDGs
EN
This paper aims to verify the impact of transport infrastructures and services on realisation the UN sustainable development goals. The purpose is to propose a methodological literature review of the evaluation tools, on one side, and an analysis of case studies referred to some European countries, in particular Italy and Poland with the geographic dimension of the urban scale. This research gives evidence to the most recent methodologies which help evaluators and policy-makers to measure the link between the transport endowment and public expense allocated on this sector and how they contribute to reach SDGs. Therefore the research questions are: - how do we measure and evaluate the impact of the transport sector on SDGs? What has been done in Europe to reach the SDGs? Do we have best practices in Europe at urban level with regard to local transport? The results highlight that the methodologies currently in use are extremely refined and allow us to capture the measurement of impacts and results in terms of SDGs. The scientific methodological review therefore helps us to select the right metrics for each local administration involved. Further, the results obtained indicate that the European Union countries have been improving their transport impact in the last years, even though there are still significant territorial imbalances. The case studies highlight these results. This is particularly true for those inefficient countries, whose results suggest they should improve the transport sustainability mainly by reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing the sharing mobility in favor of collective modes.

Transport infrastructure projects are distinguished by their high levels of investment, lengthy construction periods, and reliance on government subsidies during operation. These factors have far-reaching impacts, not only on the sustainable operation and success of the projects themselves, but also on the orderly functioning of society and the sustainable development of the economy. As such, it is of paramount importance to thoroughly investigate the sustainable operation of transport infrastructure. This paper examines the impact of sustainable operation on transport infrastructure by analysing 30 projects in China’s transport infrastructure sector. The study employs the qualitative comparative analysis method. To achieve the aim of this paper, we identified five dimensions for assessing a project’s sustainability. These include the economic environment of the construction site, operational market demand, government support capacity, and enterprise management level. This analysis offers valuable guidance for future engineering projects. Finally, the study identified seven strategies for achieving sustainable operation of the project. The findings revealed that the economic development status, population size, and government subsidies of the construction site do not effectively promote sustainable operation of the project. Rather, they can hinder enterprises’ market competitiveness. The study’s results can assist decision-makers in determining the feasibility of implementing sustainable management practices in the new project. Examine the factors that influence the achievement of sustainable business while enhancing the operational efficiency of ongoing initiatives. This research aims to produce a valuable addition to risk assessments in sustainable operation research and the advancement of transportation infrastructure reduction.

Purpose: The aim of the study is to identify the essential attributes that determine the development of a sustainable, innovative and resistant to disruption transport infrastructure and to answer two research questions: How to shape models for the development of sustainable and innovative transport infrastructure, while maintaining the logistic continuity of mobility and transport systems? and What actions should organizations take in the conditions of permanent change in order to maintain operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of implemented investments, not only thinking about the possible return of the pandemic, but also about increasingly difficult access to resources, climate change and social needs? Design/methodology/approach: The research methods and techniques used included, among others: content analysis, cause and effect analysis, selected methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis, which were used to present and discuss the results of the study. Findings: Searching for methods of operationalization of the implementation of the assumptions of the new development paradigm, a conceptual framework for the model of sustainable development of transport infrastructure was developed. EU programs and instruments supporting the financing of activities in the field of development of sustainable, innovative and resilient transport infrastructure were reviewed. Attributes were indicated so that the development would strive for the simultaneous implementation of economic, social and environmental goals. Research limitations/implications: The study did not measure the sustainability of infrastructure investments in transport. The precondition for successfully performing such a task is the availability of an accurate data set and the selection of appropriate measurement indicators. This has implications for future research. Practical implications: One of the key challenges in cities is making decisions about investments in the development of economically effective, environmentally safe and socially important transport infrastructure. Hence, the development of algorithmic approaches that allow the use of the proposed qualitative model may contribute to improving the efficiency in making investment decisions.Originality/value: The originality of the conducted research was achieved through its measurable character. The proposed model can contribute to the improvement of decision-making tools in the field of allocation of public and other funds for investments, so that they contribute to the sustainability of mobility systems.

The integration of Ukraine’s economy into the European space requires the dynamic and balanced development of all its sectors, especially the transport sector. The purpose of the research is to identify the factors related to transport entrepreneurship that affect the economic development of Ukraine, in particular regarding the formation of added value (gross regional product). The paper presents the author’s definition of transport entrepreneurship as an independent, systematic, and risky entrepreneurial activity in providing transport services. The results revealed a negative trend in the formation of the added value of the transport enterprises of Ukraine, both in terms of value and as a percentage of GDP. This prompted the authors to determine the factors affecting the formation of gross added value (gross regional product) by transport enterprises of Ukraine to further develop proposals aimed at their activation. Four models were created in the first stage of the research to achieve the goal. These models are based on gross regional product in transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities; gross regional product in transport, warehousing, and postal and courier activities per capita; gross value added in transport, warehousing, and postal and courier activities; and gross value added in transport, warehousing, and postal and courier activities per capita. In the second stage of the research, the fifth model with the highest correlation coefficients was built, which made it possible to identify the factors of negative and positive influence on the formation of gross added value (gross regional product) by transport enterprises in Ukraine. Based on the results, a number of measures are proposed to stimulate factors of positive influence and neutralize negative influence. The proposed tools for identifying the factors related to transport entrepreneurship that affect the economic development of Ukraine can serve as markers for the formation of the country’s post-war strategy in the field of transport entrepreneurship.
