Regeneration of decopper baths by the ion-exchange method

Abstrakty
A flow chart for the regeneration of exhausted decopper baths was proposed.A major advantage of the regenerating method is the potentiality for copper recovery and recykling.Two ion -exchangers were used for the purpose of the study-gel-type Wofatit KPS and macropous Wofatit KS-10.Both were found to be applicable to Cu ( II ) recovery from an exhaused decopper bath and,what is more,none of them developed substantial loss of ion-exchange capacity during at least 20 work cycles.This finding suggests a service life of two or three years in electroplating plants.Investigations of the equilibrium of the H+/ Cu2+ ion exchange reaction revealed that the ion-exchangers were regenerated most effectively at a suphuric acid concentration of 1.O val/dcm3.
