EN The article undertakes an issue of building an autonomous coastal positioning system that would work on the basis of information included in a radar image. Prior researches have led to working out the method of extracting characteristic points from the radar image - peninsulas, buoys etc. Currently the algorithm of identification of such points, that is assigning an identity (a position) to each of them, will be illustrated. The proposed solution is based on comparison of a relative bearing and distances fixed for pattern points (from a chart) and for points extracted from the radar image.
