Artykuł jest próbą podsumowania zmian zachodzących w szeroko rozumianej geotechnice, geomechanice i geologii inżynierskiej, których skutkiem jest inne spojrzenie na geoinżynierię i nowe jej rozumienie. Jest wynikiem udziału w dwóch konferencjach (w Paryżu i Melbourne), które odbyły się pod koniec ubiegłego stulecia, i przeprowadzonych tam dyskusji. Oparty jest na rozważaniach zamieszczonych w dwóch artykułach: Morgensterna [5] oraz Steenfelda [6], podsumowujących i uogólniających dokonania geotechniki inżynierskiej, której zakres obejmuje geoinżynierię, a także własnych przemyśleniach autora. Zamieszczono także szereg uwag dotyczących nauczania geoinżynierii.

The paper is an attempt at a of changes in widely understood geotechnics, geomechanics and geology engineering. This results in alternative view on geoengineering. The paper reflects ideas presented in the discussions during two conferences which took place in Paris and Melbourne at the end of the last century. The paper is based on discourses included in two papers: Morgenstern [5], and Steenfeld [6] dealing the progress in geotechnical engineering, that transformed into geoengineering. Also the author's opinions on the above subject matter are presented as well as remarks on geoengineering didactics.
