The article analyzes the impact of impulse pressing on the wet tensile strength of paper towels made from a blend of pine and eucalyptus fibers with the addition of PAE polymer. The study found that increasing the pressing temperature improves paper strength, which may result from enhanced fiber interaction and better polymer crosslinking. Additionally, pressing pressure compacts the fibers and increases their contact area, influencing the mechanical properties of the paper. It was determined that pressing temperature plays a dominant role in increasing the Tensile Index, surpassing the significance of pressing pressure. The maximum index of wet tensile strength of paper towels was achieved with a pressing temperature of approximately 200°C and a pressing pressure in the range of 3-5 MPa. However, a too-short contact time between the sample and the heated roll limits polymer crosslinking efficiency, potentially affecting the final mechanical properties of the paper.
