W artykule omówiono rosnące znaczenie naturalnych składników roślinnych w leczeniu cukrzycy typu 2, która stanowi coraz większe wyzwanie zdrowotne na świecie. Wraz z przewidywanym wzrostem zachorowań na tę chorobę do 2045 roku, rosną także koszty związane z jej leczeniem. Z tego względu coraz większą uwagę zwraca się na możliwość wsparcia terapii farmakologicznej poprzez zastosowanie naturalnych rozwiązań. W artykule przedstawiono różne produkty roślinne i obecne w nich składniki bioaktywne, które mogą odgrywać istotną rolę w kontrolowaniu poziomu glukozy we krwi oraz poprawie wrażliwości komórek na insulinę. Omówiono działanie pokrzywy zwyczajnej, morwy białej, berberyny, gorzkiego melona, czarnuszki, kozieradki oraz czosnku.

This article discusses the growing importance of natural plant ingredients in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, a growing global health challenge. As the incidence of the disease is expected to increase by 2045, the costs associated with its treatment are also rising. For this reason, increasing attention is being paid to the possibility of supporting drug therapy with natural solutions. This article presents various plant products and the bioactive components present in them that may play an important role in controlling blood glucose levels and improving insulin sensitivity. The effects of nettle, white mulberry, berberine, bitter melon, nigella, fenugreek and garlic are discussed.
